The MSM, as expected, is studiously ignoring the fact that three of these terrorist wannabes were ILLEGAL ALIENS: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270601,00.html. Is it politically incorrect of me to point that out? Sorry, I'm doing it anyway.
I had any e-mail exchange with a few friends this afternoon, and one of the things that we discussed was that, in short, the people of this area were lucky. These dumbasses publicized what they wanted to do, and an alert video clerk called the cops on them. Serious, professional terrorists aren't that obvious about their goals. As well, these idiots were going to go attack a military base. I'm sure that they would have killed some soldiers, but I'm equally sure that they would have died in the process. What if they had gone after softer targets. Here is a short list, which is by no means inclusive, of "soft targets" which they could have hit. All of these targets are less than 15 minutes by car from where three of the terrorists lived. Several are walking distance:
1) Cherry Hill East High School. Over 1,000 students, many of them Jewish. Very little security.
2) Beck Middle School: Smaller school, but again, zero security and lots of potential victims.
3) Sharp Elementary School: One of my children goes to school there. You can walk in the front door essentially without being questioned.
4) Four synagogues (Beth Sholom, Temple Emanuel, M'Kor Shalom, and one other whose name escapes me). There is security at them only on the High Holidays.
5) South Jersey Jewish Community Center: Two of my other kids go here. The Early Childhood Care Center is kept behind locked doors, but that is mainly to prevent child abductions. It wouldn't do anything to prevent a determined terrorist. Again, there is NO armed security.
6) Cherry Hill Mall: The largest mall in the area. What would stop a terrorist, or several terrorists, from walking in entrances and opening fire or detonating themselves? Answer: Absolutely nothing.
These are just the targets that leap immediately to mind. I won't even discuss the hundreds of restaurants and other public gathering places in Cherry Hill alone.
Think I'm not a very, very nervous person right now?
