Mother's Day Musings

Happy Mother's Day, everyone! Blogging will probably be light today, as we head out for a brunch in a couple of hours and I try to keep Mrs. BHG from doing too much around the house. A couple of things are on my mind right now: First, nudist colonies are trying to attract younger members: http://www.comcast.net/news/strange/index.jsp?cat=STRANGE&fn=/2007/05/13/661895.html&cvqh=itn_nudists. I have to be honest, as a guy the idea of nude women traipsing around is kind of appealing, but there is much more to it than that. First of all, I know how I look naked (Frankenstein-like comes to mind as a fair description), and if I look that bad, there have to be others who look almost as bad. Second, why don't female nudists all look like Neve Campbell, or Rachel MacAdams, or maybe Scarlett Johanssen? Is that too much to ask for? ;-)

The other thing that is on my mind is that Mrs. BHG and I went out for dinner and a movie last night. After a wonderful dinner of Indian food at a local bistro, we went to see Spiderman 3. It did NOT live up to the hype. They tried to do too many things with too many characters, and as a result, did not do enough with any of them. Action scenes were largely pushed to the background in favour of "character development". Some of the story lines were good, but they received short shrift because of the multitude of overlapping plot lines. The scene is clearly set for a fourth installment in this franchise, but the directors/producers would be well-served if they went with a cleaner and leaner plot line.
