You can't trust the Obama Administration on Israel

The American betrayal of Israel is continuing apace. Now, we have the announcement (done quietly, of course) that the U.S. will not insist that the Palestinians recognize that Israel as a Jewish state. So, what exactly have the Palestinians been asked to give up thus far? Near as I can tell, the answer is "absolutely nothing." Israel , on the other hand, is being asked to give up everything or face international isolation, sanctions and world opprobrium. I expect this of the feckless and inherently anti-Semitic Europeans, but am disappointed that even the Americans are seemingly now failing to have Israel's back.  Sadly, it appears as though no one has Israel's back, anymore................

Seeing clearly

John Bolton, the one-time U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, is as astute an analyst of the world situation as there is. So, when he castigates the United States for its foreign policy pratfalls over the last two years or so, it is worth noting: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122066094200605825.html?mod=djemEditorialPage. He points to all of the locations where the United States has failed of late; North Korea, Georgia, Iran, Israel and the list goes on (and on and on.............).

The Bush 43 Administration's refusal to fight for him as the U.N. Ambassador to the United Nations is a mark of shame on this administration.

Point of interest: Who was the Senator who was most instrumental in keeping Mr. Bolton from being appointed as the permanent Ambassador? One Joseph Biden of Delaware.

A sick culture

There is no other way to describe out. You have to watch this ENTIRE Palestinian news feature, which was translated by MEMRI: http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/1840.htm. In fact, it's beyond sick. I want Condoleeza Rice to be forced to watch this clip, over and over and over. Then let her babble on about the farcical "peace process". You can't have peace where only one side understands what the term means.

U.S. State Department intervening in internal Israeli affairs

There is a growing rift between the United States and Israel, and U.S. State Department officials increasingly intervene in purely internal Israeli affairs, including rent disputes (!!), on behalf of the Palestinians: http://haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1004189.html. I have blogged previously on how the Bush 43 Administration's foreign policy vis-a-vis Israel had morphed into that of the Bush 41 Administration, but this is now one step beyond. The even scarier thing for a supporter of Israel is that with Barack Obama likely to win the Presidency, this trend will grow even more pronounced.

Israel better get used to being out on an island, because like it or not, that is exactly where it is going to be.

Gordon Brown is a moron

Of course, by so designating him I stand the considerable risk of insulting morons around the world. Britain's anti-Israel Prime Minister is in Israel, and he wasted no time in insulting his hosts, lecturing them on "halting the illegal settlements", and spouting off on how economics was the root of the Palestinian problems: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080720/ap_on_re_mi_ea/mideast_brown.

Really? Has this clueless jackass not read the Hamas charter? That's a rhetorical question, because it's obvious that he has not. Hamas doesn't give a hoot about "the economy". The only thing about which it cares is killing every last Jew in Israel. End of story. He also hasn't bothered to read the newspapers, where the "moderate" leader of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, practically cried with joy at the release of baby-killer Samir Kuntar.

Gordon Brown's ignorance is typical of the European left. Israel should show him the door immmediately (but it won't, because Ehud Olmert may be even dumber than Brown).

How freakin' juvenile can you get?

France is currently hosting a conference at which both Syria and Israel are present, and true to the nature of Arab states, the Syrians are being incredibly juvenile. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert tried to make eye contact with Syrian dictator Basher Assad, and Assad actually put his hand up in front of his face to avoid it: http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSL1332985620080713. At a separate meeting in which both the Israeli and Syrian foreign ministers were present, the Syrian represenative left when the Israeli representative, Tzipi Livni, was going to speak.

Are we really to believe that peace is possible between these two countries when the Syrians are pulling crap like this?

I'm your enemy! No, I'm your friend! Never mind, I'm your enemy! Wait, I've changed my mind........

Farouk Hosni, an Egyptian political hack, in first in line to become the head of UNESCO: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121400293735693309.html?mod=djemEditorialPage. The only problem is that Mr. Hosni has a "slight" problem with Israel. But then he doesn't. But, then he does, again. This man engages in so much double-talk, he COULD be running for President of the United States.

I guess that it comes down to this for me. We are 30 years plus past the signing of the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel, and even now, in 2008, Egypt still refuses to have any cultural ties whatsoever with Israel. Doesn't that one fact alone tell you all you need to now about the Egyptian "perspective" on Israel?

As a side note, the fact that he may be in favour of burning Israeli books is probably a plus in the eyes of most U.N. members.............

With peace like this, who needs war?

Let's not forget, Egypt was the first Arab state so sign a peace treaty with Israel, over 30 years ago. Yet, here we are so many years later and the Egyptians STILL won't put Israel on a map: http://www.moneybiz.co.za/africa/africa.asp?story=3c2e4df1-99e6-4a5e-8403-c971f10af263. There is still daily incitement against Israel in the Egyptian media.

If this is what Israel can expect from its "friends", why should it even bother seeking peace with the other Arab/Muslim states, even if they wanted it?

I don't buy it

Syria and Israel have apparently been holding back door peace talks for about a year, with the assistance of Turkey: http://www.sana.sy/print.html?sid=175427&newlang=eng.

I don't trust the Syrians as far as I can throw them. This is just a ploy on their part to divert attention away from their activities in Lebanon, such as funneling Iranian arms to Hezbollah. They're also doing stuff like this: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1211288131705&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull.

A defensive President Peanut Farmer.....

.........writes in the New York Times (where else?) about why he chose to speak with Hamas terrorists: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/28/opinion/28carter.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin. It's a stunning read, if for no other reason than he admits that the "promises" he obtained from Hamas' leadership are essentially valueless, and yet he believes them (or professes to believe them) nonetheless.

There is no depth to which this man will not sink.

Monday, April 21, 2008

Thank YOU, President Peanut Farmer

He's managed to screw Israel even more than he had previously, which I guess was his goal from the start. Hamas has announced that it will "agree" to a 10-year "hudna" (cease fire) if Israel withdraws to its pre-1967 borders: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080421/ap_on_re_mi_ea/syria_hamas_israel. Of course, a hudna is NOT a peace treaty--it is a ceasefire which the Muslim who makes it can break at any time and for any reason--and Hamas has said that it will never recognize Israel under any circumstances.

So, what has President Peanut Farmer really accomplished? Nothing other than to put even more pressure on Israel while placing precisely none on the Arab states.

Hamas gets it

Everyone gets it. President Peanut Farmer's meeting with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal bestows a legitimacy on the terrorist group that it could never have previously imagined: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/16/AR2008041600758.html.

Of course, I am acting under the assumption that legitimizing the terrorist entity is EXACTLY what President Peanut Farmer wants to do. He's not that stupid; in fact, I think that he knows precisely the consequences of this decision, though there are many who believe that he really is that naive and moronic, including Michael Young, the Editor of Lebanon's Daily Star: http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?edition_id=1&categ_id=5&article_id=91072.

For more on what Hamas REALLY thinks, the beliefs of President Peanut Farmer notwithstanding, go here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/16/AR2008041602899.html.

Remember, HE'S the moderate, Part Two

Mahmoud Abbas is supposed to be the "moderate" alternative to Hamas, or so the MSM and State Department (not to mention the EU) keeping telling us. Well, what's this moderate about to do? He's going to give a couple medal to female terrorists who were directly involved in terrorist attacks which killed Israelis: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1208246580507&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull. For the record, neither of the two women is even remotely remorseful for what they did: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3232591,00.html.

Think that this story will be picked up by CNN? The New York Times? Washington Post? ABC News? Yeah, me neither.................

UPDATE (4/17/08, 10:50 a.m.): The Jerusalem Post is reporting that the awards have been "revoked": http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1208356970235&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull.

Taking the meeting

Israeli President Shimon Peres, who agreed to meet with President Peanut Farmer as part of the latter's Middle East Tour, apparently didn't fill his role as the Court Jew too well. Peres, a dove if there ever was one, was quite critical of President Peanut Farmer's decision to meet with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/974463.html.

One would think that President Peanut Farmer would get the idea that what he's doing is wrong when he's being criticized by the likes of Shimon Peres, the U.S. State Department, Condhimmileeza Rice, etc., but that's apparently too much to ask of the Israel-hating former President. He still thinks that it's a wonderful idea, and that Hamas must be a part of any peace agreement. I'm not sure exactly what part of "we want all of the Jews in Israel to die" President Peanut Farmer doesn't understand, but it's clear that he doesn't understand Hamas' true goal, which is this: http://www.memritv.org/clip_transcript/en/1739.htm. He doesn't even get the "Palestinian Authority's" plan for the Middle East, which is this: http://www.memritv.org/clip_transcript/en/1738.htm.

How out of touch is he? Even the Chicago Tribune asks rhetorically whether his Nobel Peace Prize can be revoked: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-0411edit2apr11,0,1544961.story.

A despicable man

Just seeing President Peanut Farmer's name makes me ill, but there he is again, justifying his decision to meet with the homicidal leader of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080413/ap_on_re_us/carter_mideast. So the man want to wipe out every Jew in Israel. No big deal as far as President Peanut Farmer is concerned, because in his delusional world view, Hamas is "necessary" to the fictitious peace process. How wacked out is he? Even the State Department and EU are against this meeting.

I'd love to know what Senators Clinton and Obama think of this decision?

What can the Russians contribute?

Russia is apparently determined to organize a Middle East "Peace Conference": http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1206446104941&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull. I have to ask, what good will this serve? Russia holds no sway over Israel, and only a minimal influence over the Arab states. I see this as nothing but a photo-op, one which Israel would be well advised to avoid.

This speaks for itself

A so-called Arab leader in East Jerusalem has denied that there has ever been any Jewish connection to the city, and that Jews eat bread dipped in the blood of non-Jews: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?c=JPArticle&cid=1204546446423&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull. That last comment was most likely a metaphor (a vile metaphor, mind you, but a metaphor nonetheless), but it is illustrative of the Palestinian mindset.

Dreaming the impossible dream

Western political "leaders" continue to do just that. They support one terrorism-enabling Palestinian leader after another, the latest being Mahmoud Abbas: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120269089266857707.html.

This Op-Ed was written by an Israeli and a Palestinian, the latter of whom has pretty good credentials as to not being an "Israeli pawn". Both writers correctly point out that as long as the West in general and the United States and Europe in particular continue to fund, arm, and provide diplomatic support for corrupt and dishonest individuals who profess to be Palestinian leaders but really aren't, the status quo is the absolute best we can achieve.

It's a grim situation, but we have only ourselves to blame for it. Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.................

Why Victor Davis Hanson rocks

Op-Eds like this one, that's why: http://article.nationalreview.com/print/?q=NWM2ZjY3YjNkMTA3ZDY4Mjg1OWY3OTUyNzcyYTc3NmU. I wish that I could think as well as Hanson, let alone write like him. He neatly skewers all of the stereotypes and falsehoods about Israel, and then turns the "logic" of the anti-Israelis upside down. What makes him (and this article) so effective is that he points out the blatant hypocrisy of those who constantly pass judgment on Israel. Right of return and compensation for refugees? Sure, we'll address that at the same time as we talk about the 500,000+ Jewish refugees who were summarily evicted from the Arab countries in 1948, forcing them to leave all of their possessions behind. Want to talk abou "illegal occupations"? Not a problem, just as soon as we address the fate of East Prussia (he doesn't even bring up West Prussia). It goes on, but you get the point............

The chasm between Israel and the Bush 43 Administration widens just a little bit more

I have blogged several times over the fact that since late 2005 or certainly, early 2006, the Bush 43 Administration has beaten a hasty retreat from its position of strongly supporting Israel. This change in policy parallels the ascension of Condoleeza Rice to the position of Secretary of State and the publishing of the findings of the Iraq Study Group, which somehow seemed to argue that Iraq would become more docile if only Israel were sacrificed on the altar of Palestinian "nationalism".

Well, despite Ehud Olmert's headlong rush to prostrate himself before his American and European masters in an effort to appease them, that appears not to be enough, as American officials, including White House Press Secretary Dana Perino and the President himself have both spoken about how Israel "MUST' address the "Right of Return" question: http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5373.

Of course, allowing a Right of Return would be demographic suicide for Israel. Conversely, forcing Israel to pay compensation to those who left would be tantamount to economic suicide for the Jewish State. Further, why isn't the President, or the dhimmi-loving Condoleeza Rice, speaking about compensation for the hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees who were either expelled or fled from Arab countries in1948?

I wrote in another post that Israeli-American relations were heading for their darkest days ever. If Ehud Olmert remains in charge, that period might be put off a little bit, but his incredible unpopularity (which is well-deserved) means that he may not be around that much longer--or one can only hope. If he goes, the relations between the United States and Israel will likely be on a par with those between the Bush 43 Administration and France under Jacques Chirac............if they are even that good.
