This kind of proves the point, doesn't it?
Publishers were balking at putting out a novel based on one of Mohammed's wives, Aisha. Why? Because there were fears of violence by the nutcase Islamofacist elements out there. So, as if to prove the point, a Dutch publisher which is printing the book had its London office firebombed by (surprise, surprise), Islamofascists: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article4837994.ece. Yeah, I'm stunned by this story. Of course, the inevitable mealy-mouthed denials of responsibility will be uttered, and our politically correct leaders will say nothing, but the facts are still the facts. You don't see this out of any other faith. If Jews acted violently everytime something was done which "insulted their faith", they would never stop acting violently..........

Very well said
Somebody by the name of Joseph Epstein has a fascinating piece on what it is like to the that most incongruous of people, a Jewish Republican: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122143719228934301.html?mod=djemEditorialPage. He's right, too. Other than perhaps African Americans, no group is identified more with the Democratic Party than Jews, going back to the days of Franking Delano Roosevelt.
The thing is, that Democratic Party is not today's party, which has taken a fairly sharp turn to the left and which is now home to many people who don't hold what I would call "Traditional Jewish Interests". For example, Jews are high achievers, by and large, yet the Democrats stridently support quotas which have the effect, albeit unintended, of keeping them out of certain positions. Jews support Israel by an overwhelming majority, yet the Democratic Party is home to the President Peanut Farmer ("Israel is an apartheid state!") and the denizens of the Daily Kos and Moveon.org, who regularly and loudly villify Israel in the most vile language.
Those are but two examples, and I don't know that anyone will agree with either Mr. Epstein or myself, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Not good
The top Roman Catholic cleric in Israel has come out against Israel being designated as a Jewish state: http://www.jta.org/cgi-bin/iowa/breaking/106011.html (and see here for more: http://www.jta.org/cgi-bin/iowa/breaking/106009.html).
You can be sure that Hamas is going to crow about this development. I wonder what he was thinking. I can tell you what I am thinking: DHIMMI.

Hava Nagilah
Hava Nagilah may be my favourite Jewish song of all time--it reminds me of joyous, happy times in general, and weddings in particular, either those of of family members or of good friends. British teeny bopper singer Lauren Rose has released a version which is climbing the charts in the U.K., and amazingly enough, it has a chance to be the #1 song in Great Britain by Christmas Day: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/935420.html.
I just love stories like this...............

I feel SO sorry for him
Norman Finkelstein, the former Depaul University professor, is whining about how horrible his life has been since he was denied tenure by the university: http://nymag.com/news/intelligencer/41838/.
Don't you feel sorry for him? I sure do...............

Sir Winston Churchill. NOT an anti-Semite
Sir Winston Churchill is rightly regarded as one of the seminal figures of the Twentieth Century. However, there has always been an undercurrent of whispering, something alone the lines of "Well, you know, he didn't like the Jews too much........."
Turns out, that is not the case: http://www.opinionjournal.com/la/?id=110010834. Given his long reputation for being a proponent of what was right, as opposed to being for what was politically expedient, I am unsurprised by this information.

I disagree with the ACLU (yeah, again)
Governor Charlie Crist of Florida has hung a Mezuzah on the doorway to his office in Tallahassee: http://www.miamiherald.com/775/story/273775.html. The Mezuzah was a gift from a fellow Florida Republican lawmaker.
What grabbed my attention about this story was that the move incurred the ire of the ACLU. Not a big shock, I know. How much do you want to bet that if he had displayed a Koran, the ACLU wouldn't have said anything?

Go visit George Roper's Blog
I don't usually tell people to leave my blog, but George Roper (on my blogroll, but the link is here: http://gmroper.mu.nu/) has a sensational post up about the fact that a recent survey in the U.K. found that an amazing 35% of those polled following a debate on the merits of Western culture vs. those of the Islamic world did not believe that Western society was worth saving.
There are any number of comments I could make about this, but I'll limit them to the following: We have had about 60 years of politically correct, anti-Western thought being tought to our children. Our scholastic "institutions" have become nothing more than indoctrination centers for far left, morally relatavistic (at best), Islamofascist-loving baby boomers (sorry, George) who have no clue to brainwash young minds to think just the way they do. And, the thing is, it's working. Look where the societal trends are starting--it's on college campuses. The boycott/divestment movement got its start there. The "9/11 Truth Movement" has taken root and spread like wildfire in that environment.
It's no coincidence that our main enemy, Saudi Arabia, is tied in to all of this. Wherever you find a strong Islamic Studies Department, the guiding hand of the Wahhabist Saudi Government is there behind the scenes. Slowly, surreptitiously, insidiously, the Saudis have poured millions of dollars generated by selling oil to us to fund a campaign which has brainwashed tens of millions of people who don't know any better into thinking that Islam is really no different than Christianity or Judaism. Aided by useful idiots in colleges and school boards across the country, and with the complicity of a MSM which long ago lost its moral compass, the Saudis have successfully convinced us that our culture is not worth saving.
What's that, you say? This survey was taken in Great Britain, and is therefore not really applicable to us? Sorry, but that would be a belief that is both naive and dangerous. We tend to be 10-20 years behind Europe in these social trends, though that gap is rapidly narrowing. It would not shock me at all if those survey results were duplicated here.
Here are the two articles to which George linked:
