Publishers were balking at putting out a novel based on one of Mohammed's wives, Aisha. Why? Because there were fears of violence by the nutcase Islamofacist elements out there. Yeah, I'm stunned by this story. Of course, the inevitable mealy-mouthed denials of responsibility will be uttered, and our politically correct leaders will say nothing, but the facts are still the facts. You don't see this out of any other faith. If Jews acted violently everytime something was done which "insulted their faith", they would never stop acting violently..........

Ignoring a horror

Maybe it is a cultural problem and not a religious problem, as some insist. I honestly don't know. What I do know that is that so-called "honour killings" continue to be limited to the Islamic faith: http://www.meforum.org/article/1988. You do not see them occurring in Catholic, or Buddhist, or Protestant, or Taoist or Jewish groups. You simply don't.

So........why doesn't this issue receive more attention? Why is it ignored by the MSM? Is this still MORE political correctness run amok, as I suspect is the case?

A great moment in public education

This makes me happy that the BHG family doesn't live in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh public schools are following a policy where students can no longer get an "F" if they get below 50% on an assignment. In other words, if you have a test where you get only one out of ten questions right, you still automatically get credit for getting five out of the ten right.

Here's a suggestion: How about grades that actually reflect a student's knowledge? I know that it's a radical concept but work with me on this. We could have schools that are not institutions focussed on building up a student's self-esteem but are instead oriented towards TEACHING children! Imagine that! We could even (I know that this is shocking, so I hope that you're all sitting down) reward students based on their knowledge!

I sent what is contained below to a friend in response to the story on how fear of Islamic reprisals has forced many publishers to quash books that dare to portray Islam in anything other than a glowing light:

The fact of the matter is that we are so afraid of "offending" ANYONE that we have turned into a society of timid fools who are afraid of their own shadows. No one is free to speak their mind anymore, particularly when it comes to anything to do with Islam. It's a one-way street, too. A book like this one is squelched, but artists who immerse statues or pictures of Christ in URINE are lauded. Publish a bunch of cartoons about Mohammed and you get condemned by the U.N. Publish a book accusing American Jews of dual loyalty (Walt & Mearsheimer's "The Israel Lobby") and you are hailed as being brave.

Here is my hypothesis: As a result of 9/11, Osama Bin Laden and the other Islamofascists achieved success beyond their wildest dreams. Not only did they kill thousands in this country, we have become a society of cowards and politically correct dhimmis, not even willing to call Islamic terrorism what it is. We now have courts in the U.S. treating terrorists as being the moral and legal equivalent of soldiers on the battlefield, with the connivance of left-leaning academic or legal organizations such as the ACLU.

Everytime I think that political correctness has hit a new high (or I should say, a new low), a new standard is set. The latest example of the mind-numbingly paralyzing political correctness that has gripped the country is a hairstyling salon owner who has been ordered to pay 4,000 pounds sterling to a Muslim woman for "indirect discrimination" as the Muslim woman's "feelings were hurt": http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1027300/How-I-nearly-lost-business-refusing-hire-Muslim-hair-stylist-wouldnt-hair.html. The amazing thing is that Sarah Desrosiers, the salon owner, was penalized because she wouldn't hire Bushra Noah, the Muslim woman, as the latter refused to take off her head scarf, something that Desrosiers required as the business owner.

Hurt feelings are now actionable? Business owners can't mandate dress and style codes for their employees? What's next, a requirement that strip clubs be forced to hire women in full burqas?
