Go away

Some nutcase religious leader in Pakistan has issued a "fatwa" against Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari because Zardari apparently had the temerity to comment on Sarah Palin's actrativeness: http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/02/pakistani-religious-leader-issues-fatwa-president-complimenting-palin/. Apparently, this was "immoral and shameful".

Now, this particular "fatwa" didn't carry with it a death sentence, but how far down the road do you think that is?

This kind of proves the point, doesn't it?

Publishers were balking at putting out a novel based on one of Mohammed's wives, Aisha. Why? Because there were fears of violence by the nutcase Islamofacist elements out there. So, as if to prove the point, a Dutch publisher which is printing the book had its London office firebombed by (surprise, surprise), Islamofascists: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article4837994.ece. Yeah, I'm stunned by this story. Of course, the inevitable mealy-mouthed denials of responsibility will be uttered, and our politically correct leaders will say nothing, but the facts are still the facts. You don't see this out of any other faith. If Jews acted violently everytime something was done which "insulted their faith", they would never stop acting violently..........

Where's Blackbeard?

Apparently, his heirs live on in the waters off the coast of Somalia, the prototypical failed state: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/africa/article4842684.ece. I honestly can't believe that piracy lives on in today's world, but it is a problem not only here but in the waters off the Indonesian archipelago. However, in the waters off Somalia it is taking on a far more dangerous dimension, as we see the beginnings of a union (perhaps of convenience) between the pirates and Islamofascists.

As the article reports, the pirates are now going hutning for Americans and Israelis. Isn't that reassuring?

Angry Left, meet Angry Islamofascists. Angry Islamofascists, meet Angry Left

I'm on an Iran kick today. While he was at the United Nations delivering his anti-Semitic tirade (for more on that, read this excellent piece from Anne Bayefsky: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ZGUwMmE0OGY1MDViNDIwMDcyMTY5ZWVlZjViYTVjNWE), Mahmoud Admadinejad found the time to meet with CODE PINK's leaders: http://codepink4peace.org/blog/2008/09/official-release-leading-codepink-activists-and-other-peace-organizations-meet-with-iranian-president-in-new-york/.

CODE PINK's leader, Medea Benjamin, seemed to think that it was absolutely wonderful that she got the opportunity to meet the world's Anti-Semite-in-Chief. In her warped view, HE'S a man of peace. The fact that he denies the Holocaust and wants to wipe Israel off the map seems not to bother her in the least. For that matter, she may even agree with him............

What if they held a terrorist attack and no one came?

Yesterday, terrorists bombed the U.S. embassy in San'a, Yemen, killing 16 people and causing significant damage to the embassy compound: http://www.foxnews.com/photoessay/0,4644,5126,00.html. With all of the focus on the Wall Street meltdown, this story, which would ordinarily have been front-page, top-of-the-fold news, was relegated to an afterthought in most newspapers. Though no one has taken "credit" for the bombing, 25 people linked to al Qaeda have been arrested. I guess that it's a sad comment on the times, but my first reaction was "How will our politicians try to spin this to their advantage?"

Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

Sir Paul McCartney is apparently ticking off a few people (read: Islamofacsists) with his decision to play a concert in Israel, to the point where he is now openly receiving death threats from Islamic wackos upset by his decision to play the concert: http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/61355/Sir-Paul-Terror-target.

I credit McCartney for not backing down from this terrorist threat--he's a braver man than is publicly reported. I am sure that the security he receives will be second to none.

Watch what you say!

A Jordanian court is seeking to prosecute 12 people for the horrific crime of "offending Islam": http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122099204692716155.html?mod=djemEditorialPage. Lest anyone think that these are just the irrational actions of an isolated, nutcase judge, think again. Islamic countries are watching very carefully to see who resists this insidious movement, and make no mistake about it, they will go forum shopping to find countries who will in dhimmi-like fashion acquiesce to their power. With fifth columnists like CAIR here, how far back do you think we are from this exact scenario?

The latest rant from a very angry leftie

They don't get much more dishonest (or angry) than the Jew- and Israel-hating Juan Cole, and here he is in fine form, comparing Sarah Palin unfavourably with Islamic fascists: http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2008/09/09/palin_fundamentalist/index.html. Sure, Juan, sure. I'll accept that comparison when Sarah Palin indicates her support for Christians who want to fly passenger jets into buildings in Mecca, or who want to strap bombs onto themselves and blow up Muslims around the world. Of course, that isn't happening, it's never happened and it never will, which is what makes Cole's comparison so specious. Try telling that to someone on the left, though.

What we are

I sent what is contained below to a friend in response to the story on how fear of Islamic reprisals has forced many publishers to quash books that dare to portray Islam in anything other than a glowing light:

The fact of the matter is that we are so afraid of "offending" ANYONE that we have turned into a society of timid fools who are afraid of their own shadows. No one is free to speak their mind anymore, particularly when it comes to anything to do with Islam. It's a one-way street, too. A book like this one is squelched, but artists who immerse statues or pictures of Christ in URINE are lauded. Publish a bunch of cartoons about Mohammed and you get condemned by the U.N. Publish a book accusing American Jews of dual loyalty (Walt & Mearsheimer's "The Israel Lobby") and you are hailed as being brave.

Here is my hypothesis: As a result of 9/11, Osama Bin Laden and the other Islamofascists achieved success beyond their wildest dreams. Not only did they kill thousands in this country, we have become a society of cowards and politically correct dhimmis, not even willing to call Islamic terrorism what it is. We now have courts in the U.S. treating terrorists as being the moral and legal equivalent of soldiers on the battlefield, with the connivance of left-leaning academic or legal organizations such as the ACLU.

Clap your hands, CAIR

In conjunction with the self-hating left here in the U.S. and in Europe, you are slowly and insidiously turning the Gitmo detainees--all of whom are very, very bad men, into victims: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121737320982594975.html?mod=djemEditorialPage. Let's face facts. The people who are at Gitmo would not be there unless they had done some seriously bad things or been in places where they should not have been unless they were planning on or hoping to do all of us harm. That doesn't bother the lawyers who are defending these people in the least, nor does it apparently bother a majority of the U.S. Supreme Court Justices, as the Boumedienne v. Bush decision clearly shows.

The alliance between the far left and the Islamofascists has never really made much sense to me, except for the fact that both share a pathological hatred for the United States and Israel. I guess that it's a case of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Regardless, and to come full circle, that CAIR and the far left have turned the Gitmo detainees into victims is nothing short of an abomination.

7/7, three years on..............

Family members of one of the 7/7 London Tube homicide bombers are holding a life celebration today, the third anniversary of the terrorist attacks which killed over 50 people: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1032699/Relatives-July-7-bomber-hold-PARTY-grave-celebrate-life.html. The U.K. being what it is these days, this story is barely eliciting a ripple across the pond. It should be greeted with horror and revulsion, of course, but that's not the way things are done these days, unfortunately...............

A Fourth of July reflection

This is from Robert Spencer, the founder of the Jihad Watch website. He penned an excellent piece, intersplicing therein quotes from the Koran and Islamic "thinkers" on how the principles for which we are fighting are so important: http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/021628.php. Links to it have already popped up on several blogs, but I felt compelled to include it on mine as well. Please read it all.

They just figured this out?

There is an article in the Haaretz newspaper which says that Israel needs to "rethink" its policy of trading terrorists for either small numbers of captured Israelis or dead bodies: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/997676.html. Hmm, I wonder what brought on this sudden flash of briliance? Could it be the fact that the Arabs are by no means stupid, and they have quickly realized that kidnappings can lead them to get many of their terrorist comrades set free. Even better for them, they don't even have to keep those who they kidnap alive. So, why WOULDN'T they keep doing this, unless Israel comes up with a better way to respond?

Here's my suggestion: The next time that terrorists kidnap an Israeli, Israel respond by killing 50 terrorists. Do it again and the number doubles, to 100. Do it a third time and the number doubles again, to 200, and so on and so forth. Who cares what the U.N. or "international community" has to say about the subject? They can't stand Israel anyway.

The collective suicide pact

The Islamofascists want to kill most of us, and convert/subjugate those who they don't kill. Our courts seem inclined to do whatever they can to help them do just that. This is not just an American problem, the obvious and justified consternation over the Boumedienne decision notwithstanding. The same problem exists in the U.K., where Courts are forcing the government to set free high profile terrrorists rather than having them deported back to their native countries because doing so would "violate their human rights": http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121486821701117583.html?mod=djemEditorialPage.

The radical Islamofascists who run the terrorist networks must laugh themselves sick with every idiotic court pronouncement..............

The enemy of my enemy is my friend

So, we thus have an alliance between radical Islamofascists such as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and far left loons such as Hugo Chavez: http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5720. They don't have much in common. In fact, they arguably have only one thing in common: a mutual, shared loathing of the United States and Israel. However, that one single tie is an extremely important and strong one. Those who support the United States and/or Israel cannot afford to ignore the growing power of this unholy alliance. Fueled by obscene oil revenues, it is only going to get stronger.

When is a Jihad not a Jihad?

When it's being "defined" by the textbooks teaching our kids, of course: http://www.examiner.com/a-1429570~Council__Mongtomery_schools_cave_to_pressue_with_Islam_book.html?cid=temp-popular. After reading this story, you can be sure that somewhere right now, Ibrahim Hooper (CAIR's mouthpiece) is laughing hysterically. We don't get it, and he knows that we don't get it. To say that Jihad has nothing to do with violence is like saying that World War II had nothing to do with the Nazis. Apart from Pitchfork Pat Buchanan, no one would agree with you on that point.

How can one confront a problem when one can't even define the problem?

Good!

The United States has apparently thrown its hands up in disgust with the odious U.N. Human Rights Commission, reasoning correctly that this despicable collection of tinpot dictatorships and Islamofascists (and their enablers) is beyond redemption: http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L06927371.htm.

Better late than never, I guess.

"I hate the Jews!" "Well, I hate them MORE!"

Only in the bizarro world that is the Middle East can you have Islamofascist terrrorists accusing each other of being soft on Israel: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h0arauyjLz9xhnBdnw6pEEOpKErwD90OBAVG7. This is so bizarre that it's almost comical.

I would normally make a comment about how this story has received virtually no MSM attention, but threats against Israel aren't news, unfortunately. It's only when Israel attempts to do something about those threats that the MSM checks out the situation.

Air Canada flights the target of the Summer 2006 airplane bombing plot

This doesn't--or it shouldn't, anyway--come as much of a surprise: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2008/04/03/bomb-plot.html.

Of course, I have little doubt that the left in Canada will read reports like this and become even more vocal about how Canada needs to pull out immediately from Afghanistan, and that it should distance itself as much as is possible from the United States. Bet on it.

Pat Condell speaks out

You had to know that Pat Condell would have a few choice words about Fitna and the Western dhimmis who are falling all over themselves to proclaim it as "hate speech". Listen to what he has to say here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3_qelW5qp4.
