A lot of Hockey fans are rightly worked up about the fact that NBC switched away from Game Five of the Ottawa Senators-Buffalo Sabres series BEFORE the first overtime period so that it could show the Preakness. The fact of the matter is that Hockey is a niche sport here in the U.S. It will never be anything more than that, no matter what ridiculous "innovations" league commissioner Gary Bettman devises, and no matter how much other fans of the sport such as myself may love it.
