MLB Top Five and Bottom Five This Week

TOP FIVE
1) Milwaukee Brewers (#4, 24-11): Yes, they lost to the Mets last night, but no team has been hotter of late.
2) Boston Red Sox (#1, 23-11): Dropped a 6-3 decision to the suddenly competitive Orioles on Friday, and they have to be worried about the Yankees now that Rogers Clemens has signed with the Bronx Bombers.
3) Detroit Tigers (no ranking, 22-12): The Tigers are determined to show everyone that last year was no fluke, but losing fireballing reliever Joel Zumaya until July at the earliest will really hurt this team.
4) Atlanta Braves (#3, 23-12): Tim Hudson has rediscovered his pitching touch, as has the rest of the Braves' staff.
5) New York Mets (no ranking, 22-12): The race for first place between Atlanta and New York has the potential to be a lot of fun.
Dropped out: Cleveland Indians (#2), Los Angeles/Anaheim/California Angels (#5)

BOTTOM FIVE
1) Washington Nationals (#1, 10-25): I didn't think that it was possible for them to outdo the horrible legacy of the Washington Senators, but the Nats sure seem like they want to try.
2) Kansas City Royals (#2, 11-25): We can probably just concede the first two spots in the Bottom Five to Washington and Kansas City for the rest of the season.
3) Toronto Blue Jays (no ranking, 14-21): Finally ended a miserable nine-game losing streak last night, but they will be without ace Roy Halliday for 4-6 weeks and closer BJ Ryan for at least a year.
4) Tampa Bay Devil Rays (no ranking, 14-21): I wonder if this team will EVER be competitive.
5) Cincinnati Reds (no ranking, 15-21): The Reds are a mystery to me. I look at the players on the field and can't help but think that they should be better.
Dropped out: Colorado Rockies (#3), Houston Astros (#4), New York Yankees (#5)
