Venezuela's descent into Communist authoritarianism continues: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/13/AR2007051301124.html. It's amazing to me how little attention this story is receiving. Sure, when Chavez comes to the U.N. and wails that President Bush is "the devil", that rightfully gets media scrutiny. Stuff like this, however, just seems to pass everyone by.
Lest we forget, Venezuela is one of the prime sources of our oil. CITGO, which has gas stations all over this area of the country, and which also sells home heating oil, is owned by the Venezuelan government. So, when we buy gas there, we are directly supporting a country whose leader is a Castro-wannabe with openly expressed hatred of the United States.
Now that I think about it, we get most of our oil from Venezuela, Russia and Saudi Arabia. All three of those countries are either overly anti-American or implicitly so. What a wonderful situation................
