Politicians target the Iraq War

If you had told me this a year or so ago, I would have said that the Democrats would be committing political suicide by going down this road, but I don't believe that any longer. Given the mood in the country, which is swinging strongly towards the anti-War left, it is nothing if not politically prudent to go in this direction: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/06/AR2007070602167.html?hpid=topnews.

Unfortunately, as it is turning out, Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri are right. Americans can't stand having their nose bloodied. This, by the way, is NOT a reflection on the troops in Iraq, who were and are fighting valiantly. It is a direct and pointed comment on the weasel politicians in this country, the MSM (which is nothing but an unofficial arm of the Democratic Party), and a public with a 30-second attention span which has been conditioned by each of the two groups mentioned directly above to turn tail and run the second things get tough.

We can have all the debates we want on whether we should have gone into Iraq. History will be the ultimate judge of that decision. However, it is nothing short of criminal that there are those in Congress who have decided for nothing more than the sake of political expediency that the troops should be pulled out a.s.a.p., consequences be damned. And, lest anyone think that I am reserving my scorn for the Democrats, there are many on the Republican side who are equally feckless: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-warvote7jul07,0,7948431.story?coll=la-home-center. They are ALL a disgrace.
