Honestly, I don't think that this man would know the truth if it smacked him in the face. His latest "pearls of wisdom" include a claim that we must all have been imagining the horrors that engulfed Southeast Asia after he and other like-minded activists, aided by sycophants in the media and Congress, forced first the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Vietnam and then, two years later, the complete cutoff of aid to the South Vietnamese government: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-kerry_zuckmanjul23,1,7201443,full.story.
The only problem, Senator Kerry, is that the violence and bloodshed you say didn't happen actually did, and it's been reported: http://www.dartcenter.org/dartaward/2002/hm3/01.html, http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0414/p09s02-coop.html.
Why is this so important? John Kerry is among those pushing hard for a precipitous U.S. withdrawal from Iraq where, given the sectarian tensions that exist, the situation is far more volatile than it ever was in Vietnam. Worse yet, the violence there would almost certainly formally drag in the neighbouring states, starting off with Turkey.
They say that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Well, how can you learn from history when you refuse to even acknowledge what the truth really is?
