As indicated in previous posts, the situation in Lebanon is at best a mess: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070713/ts_nm/lebanon_fighting_dc.
There is one thing about this story that NO ONE seems to be discussing, however, and that is, WHY are there still Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, or any other area of the Arab world? Are there Jewish refugee camps for the hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees who either fled or were expelled from Arab states in 1948? No, of course not, because Israel integrated them into its society, unlike Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, etc., all of which kept the Palestinians in camps in a cynical decision that this would be better from a P.R. standpoint. Still, almost no one talks about this, and on those rare occasions where it is discussed, it is usually in the context of condemning Israel.
