U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts

The news has been filled with stories the past two days about how Chief Justice Roberts suffered a seizure yesterday, leading to a fall and his hospitalization. Thankfully, he has been released and now appears to be on the road to recovery. Lest it miss an opportunity to sink further into the gutter, the Angry Left has weighed in the situation, wishing the Chief Justice nothing but the worst: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=2935326&mesg_id=2935447. That gem is from the Democratic Underground. And then there were these words of compassion and wisdom from the ultraliberal "Wonkette" website: http://wonkette.com/politics/rumors-on-the-internets/let-the-sunshine-in-284096.php.

What the hell is wrong with these people??????

Success in Iraq = Bad news for the Democrats

Don't take my word on it. Listen to the words of their own leaders: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/30/AR2007073001380.html.

Laura Ingraham asked this question, and it is a pertinent one: What does it say about the state of American politics where one of our two parties has tied itself to a defeat of the U.S. military?

It's not just me who thinks that President Bush can't be trusted on foreign policy

Read this excellent analysis of how the Bush 43 Administration has completely backed off virtually every promise it has made in terms of U.S. foreign policy, and how that, more than anything else, has helped damage American credibility overseas to an unprecedented and previously unthinkable degree: http://www.meforum.org/article/1715.

I've made the point time and again how this Administration has turned into the Bush 41 Administration. If you will recall, the Bush 41 run only lasted one term, and though Bush 43 will have made it two terms, you can hardly classify the past two years as being much of a success............

Dennis Prager gets it right

He does get it right, more often than not. Here he is, elucidating on CAIR and other Muslim pressure groups, with the assistance of a dhimmi, compliant MSM, have successfully managed to label anyone who offers anything other than unqualified praise of Islam as "Islamophobic": http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/07/why_islamophobia_is_a_brillian.html.

The point raised by Prager in his final paragraph is in my mind the best one. He points out that no one says a word when a so-called "artist" soaks a Crucifix in urine, because that is "Freedom of Speech". However, when a person is accused of flushing Korans, they get charged with a FELONY!

Congratulations, CAIR. You're well on your way to winning this war..................

The Saudi Myth

Again, I will give much credit where it is certainly due. Thanks to the hundreds of billions of dollars that they have acquired in oil revenue, the Saudis have bought themselves a compliant Congress and Presidency: http://www.nysun.com/pf.php?id=59431&v=5906885811.

Let me be perfectly clear here. I don't just mean THIS Presidency and Congress, I mean every single Presidency and Congress since the 1950s. How else can anyone explain how a country that has done NOTHING to help U.S. interests anywhere in the world continues to be treated with such esteem? We are now preparing to sell them billions of dollars of high tech weaponry, despite the fact that almost half of the Jihadists who get killed in Iraq are Saudi. What the hell is wrong with us? Are we that stupid? Are we that corrupt that we are willing to sell our own country away to an Islamic theocracy because they are paying us (or some of us, anyway. How are YOU today, James "F--- the Jews" Baker and President Peanut Farmer?) to do so?

It would be comical if it weren't so stupid and suicidal..............

Iran vs. Israel

The undeclared war goes on. Iran is actively recruiting Hebrew speakers to continue its propaganda war against Israel: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3431862,00.html.

It's only a matter of time before this cold war gets much hotter. Iran and Israel are heading for a military confrontation, and it will not be limited to those two countries. Syria and Lebanon will get involved on the Iranian side, and does anyone seriously think that the Sunni Arab states, much as they may loathe Shiite, non-Arab Iran, will be able to resist an opportunity to finally cleanse the Middle East of Jews, even if it means the destruction of their own countries? I don't...............

In defense of Western Science and Society

This, in my mind, is absolutely fantastic. Judea Pearl (Daniel Pearl's father) delivers an eloquent and reasoned defense of Western Science and Society as a commencement address at the University of Toronto last month: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5386301253013471570&hl=en.

Do yourself a favour. Watch the WHOLE thing. As an aside, contrast his dignity and graciousness with the actions of Cindy Sheehan..........

Move over, President Peanut Farmer

Here comes your #2 guy, former V.P. Walter Mondale, who has followed his former boss' lead and gone after the Bush 43 Administration. His target: Current V.P. Dick Cheyney, who is derided incessantly by Mondale in this piece run by (who else?) the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/27/AR2007072702126.html.

The amazing thing about this screed? Mondale nearly dislocates his shoulder patting himself and President Peanut Farmer on the back because they "kept the peace" during their Administration. Really? Well, if you consider letting the Soviets march into Afghanistan and sitting around with your collective thumbs up a certain party of your anatomy while Iran gets taken over by an Islamofascist regime which is now seeking nuclear weapons "keeping the peace", then I guess he's right.

Maybe we shouldn't surrender in Iraq yet?

Amazingly enough, this piece was published in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/30/opinion/30pollack.html?ei=5090&en=33fd6c98de2a6409&ex=1343448000&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss&pagewanted=all. Turns out, morale is high, and the troops remain behind the mission! Then again, all we need to do is go re-read that Ted Rall piece. They must be too stupid to know how bad it is.............

Nonetheless, can someone--ANYONE--please forward it to Jack Murtha, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Charles Schumer, George Voinovich, Richard Lugar, and all of the other "surrender NOW" crowd?

A person who doesn't get it on Illegal Immigration

Today's Philadelphia Inquirer published an Op-Ed from a person who believes that the problem with immigration lies not in the fact that the illegal immigrants have broken the law by being here, but in the fact our unfair and dicriminatory society has wrongly barred them: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/opinion/20070730_Immigration_issue_not_about_lawbreakers__but_broken_law.html.

This is more of the typical, left wing tripe that argues (implicitly in the case of this Op-Ed, explicitly in others) that those who don't favour a blanket amnesty and open borders are nothing but a bunch of racist yahoos.

British P.M. Gordon Brown surprises me

I had him pegged as being your typical anti-American, leftist European technocrat, but I am more than willing to admit that maybe I was wrong about him: http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007350097,00.html.

Now, a few good words do not constitute official government policy, but this is better than anything I have heard out of the U.K. since Tony Blair stepped down at the end of June.

Those Pesky Jews!

There they go again, causing tumult and havoc wherever they are! What are they up to now? Well, apparently, they are the ones behind all of the killing and mayhem in Darfur: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3431281,00.html.

You know, it's a good thing we have Muslims around to keep the world up to date on what those Jews are doing...................

Angry Left hits bottom, starts digging, hits bottom again, brings out jackhammer

This falls under the "I couldn't make it up if I tried" department. Sometimes, truth really is stranger than fiction: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/7/27/21214/1997. So, now we have the President and Vice-President conspiring to murder Pat Tillman.

Just as a reminder, JetBlue sponsored a Daily Kos convention recently. Keep that in mind the next time you need a cheap flight and Jet Blue is available.

The Democrats score some points

You can't spin this. The Democrats have definitely scored some major political points by passing a bill (which President Bush has said that he will sign) implementing the major recommendations of the 9/11 Commission: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070728/ap_on_go_co/homeland_security.

It's galling to see Nancy Pelosi crow about this, but she makes a valid point when she says that the Democrats managed to get this legislation passed in six months while the Republicans had almost five years (she said six, which is unfair, given that the Commission's findings did not come out right after 9/11) to do something about changing the way we secure the Homeland and by and large did not do so.

Wackos, wackos everywhere!

They're coming out of all the woodworks now: http://www.counterpunch.org/lindorff07272007.html.

I could make a bunch of smug and snarky comments about this guy's lunacy but really, why bother? If you can't figure that he's nuts, you're just as nuts yourself...........

From the "Man Bites Dog" news category

An Op-Ed cirticizing EU support of the plethora of rabidly anti-Israel NGO's IN THE GUARDIAN: http://commentisfree.guardian.co.uk/seth_freedman/2007/07/burning_bridges.html.

I'm as shocked as you are! I mean, what's next? Actual objective journalism from the paper which has never met a Palestinian it didn't love unconditionally? Well, okay, that's not likely to happen, but I was still pleased to read this Op-Ed, which hit the nail on the head regarding how the EU speaks out of both sides of its mouth when it comes to Israel.

Iran Divestment Movement

There is a growing movement by state legislatures across the United States to move to divest their state pensions from any companies which do business with Iran: http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.iran26jul26,0,2575652.story. The problem is that what they are doing, while absolutely laudable, may not be constitutional, and there are pointy heads in Washington who whine that this movement interferes with the right of the Executive Branch of the government to make foreign policy. Those same pointy heads already got a Massachussets divestment law invalidated on those grounds.

No wonder the Iranians don't take us seriously..............

Hasta la vista, Ward Churchill...........

..............don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you. Churchill was recently let go by the University of Colorado, which found that he had committed numerous acts of academic fraud. Here is the link to the university president's column in the Wall Street Journal explaining why Churuchill was fired, and the full text of his column is located immediately below that:

Why I Fired Professor Churchill
By HANK BROWN
July 26, 2007; Page A13

University of Colorado Ethnic Studies Professor Ward Churchill was fired this week after the university's Board of Regents approved my recommendation to dismiss him for academic fraud.
The ongoing drama now moves to state court, where Mr. Churchill has filed a lawsuit against the university alleging that it violated his First Amendment rights. Mr. Churchill drew considerable attention to himself in an essay that compared 9/11 victims to notorious Nazi Adolf Eichmann.
While no action was taken by the university with regard to his views on 9/11, many complaints surfaced at the time about his scholarship from faculty around the country. The university had an obligation to investigate. The complaints led to the formation of three separate investigative panels -- which included more than 20 of his faculty peers and which worked for over two years -- to unanimously find a pattern of serious, deliberate and repeated research misconduct that fell below minimum standards of professional integrity.

The panels found that Mr. Churchill rewrote history to fit his own theories. When confronted, he
asserted he was not responsible. According to one report, "Professor Churchill has, on more than one occasion, claimed that certain acts that appear to have been his were instead the responsibility of some other actor: his editor or publisher, his assistant, or his former wife and collaborator." The report goes on to note that "we have come to see these claims as emblems of a recurrent refusal to take responsibility for errors . . . and a willingness to blame others for his troubles."

But his case is about far more than academic misconduct. It is about the accountability that public universities must demonstrate. Mr. Churchill's difficulties in facing up to his academic responsibilities are in many ways emblematic of higher education's trouble with accountability. Too often, colleges and universities tend to insulate themselves in ivy-covered buildings and have not been as diligent as necessary to ensure that the academic enterprise is conducted rigorously and honestly. This elitist attitude is simply outdated, and our university has made tenure reforms -- precipitated by the Churchill case -- that will ensure academic integrity.
Universities, particularly public research universities, are accountable to those who have a stake in their success and efficient operation. At the University of Colorado, this includes the people of Colorado who contribute $200 million in taxes annually, the federal agencies that provide some $640 million annually in research funding, the alumni who want to maintain the value of their degrees, the faculty who expect their colleagues to act with integrity and the students who trust that faculty who teach them meet high professional standards.

And just as the public has high expectations for us, we expect our faculty members to be accountable for maintaining high standards of scholarship. A public research university such as ours requires public faith that each faculty member's professional activities and search for truth are conducted according to the academic standards on which an institution's reputation rests.
The University of Colorado's reputation was called into question in the matter of Ward Churchill. His claim that he was singled out for his free speech is a smokescreen.

Controversy -- especially self-sought controversy -- doesn't immunize a faculty member from adhering to professional standards. If you are a responsible faculty member, you don't falsify research, you don't plagiarize the work of others, you don't fabricate historical events and you don't thumb your nose at the standards of the profession. More than 20 of Mr. Churchill's faculty peers from Colorado and other universities found that he committed those acts. That's what got him fired.

Even great universities have problems. Places with thousands of faculty and tens of thousands of mostly young students are not immune to trouble. But a university's reputation will only be strengthened when it works to ensure that it remains accountable to those it serves.

Mr. Brown, a former U.S. senator, is president of the University of Colorado.

A local angle on the battle over illegal immigration

A local municipality called Hazleton had recently enacted a law which imposed stiff fines on businesses who were found to have employed illegal aliens. Of course, those in favour of amnesty and the Open Borders crowd immediately challenged the constitutionality of the law, and yesterday, a federal judge in Scranton, Pennsylvania, struck it down on the grounds that immigration issues are solely within the purview of the federal government: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/home_top_stories/20070727_Court_voids_Hazleton_law.html.

I have a question for the judge. What are we supposed to do when the federal government has completely abdicated its responsibility on this issue? And to the extent that Washington is "addressing" the problem, it is generally acting against the interests and wishes of the vast majority of the country.

The Mayor of Hazleton has vowed to appeal, and I hope that he does. This is too important to just give up now.

How politicians are playing games with our national security

GREAT, great Op-Ed in today's Wall Street Journal on how politicians on both sides of the aisle (but, admittedly, especially the Democrats) are playing games with our national security, resulting in a less secure homeland: http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110010389.

I found out something I did not know, which is that completely foreign calls (eg., from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan) are frequently routed through the United States because our phone system is so much more advanced than those elsewhere in the world. Since those calls now go through the U.S., they are considered "domestic calls" requiring FISA warrants. What sense does that make??? Then again, so long as the New York Times can screech about the evils of "Domestic Surveillance", it's all good, right?

I really fear for the future of this country sometimes................

Bush 43 = Bush 41?

Forget that comparison, because this Administration is now going much further in its efforts to distance the U.S. from Israel than the Bush 41 Administration ever did: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/123194.

So, Condoleeza Rice is now demanding that Israel end its "occupation" of the West Bank. How nice. I am sure that Dhimmi Olmert and the rest of the confederacy of dunces who make up the Israeli government won't have a problem with what she said, either. This is unbelievable.

I know that I have at least ONE reader in Israel, so through him I pass this question on to him: If you in Israel don't care enough about your country to turf this idiot out of power, why should we here in the U.S. care? And, for supporters of Israel here I ask: What can we do to prevent the Bush 43 Administration from sounding more and more like Europe in terms of its rhetoric on Israel?

Anti-Semitic Link on Google

I received the following in an e-mail, and checked it out myself. It's legitimate. If you plug the word "Jew" into a Google search, one of the firste websites that comes up is Jewwatch.com, a hate site masquerading as a legitimate website. When I did the search, it was the third website to come up. Here is the text of the e-mail I received:

Subject: Help remove jewwatch.com from Google I didn't know about this and think it's important for you to be aware and, if motivated (as I am), send it along to others. When you Google the word "Jew", one of the first websites that pops up is http://www.jewwatch.com/ --an anti-Semitic, hate-filled harangue masquerading as "scholarly, factual, informational" Add your name to the petition to remove www.jewwatch.com from Google's search engine. (Check out the site and you will understand why.) In order for Google to remove this, they would need a petition of over 50,000 requests.... Go to : http://www.petitiononline.com/rjw23/petition.html to sign the petition. VERY IMPORTANT !! Pleas e pass this one on! Thanks!

Another Dhimmi

Get a load of this piece of rubbish, from the Washington Post, in which the writer falls all over herself in proclaiming that Jihad does NOT mean armed struggle: http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/susan_brooks_thistlethwaite/2007/07/jihad_mean_struggle.html.

I wonder, does she watch the same newscasts that I do? Does she not see the scenes of Shiites killing Sunnis and vice versa, all in the name of Jihad? Does she not see Muslims of both sects uniting in their desire to massacre Jews and Christians, again in the name of Jihad? Am I just imagining these things?

Even more ironic is the fact that in the very same newspaper, the Washington Post shills for Hezbollah by publishing a piece from one of Hezbollah's leading "spiritual advisors", wherein he specifically says that Jihad consists of "armed resistance": http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/muslims_speak_out/2007/07/sayyed_fadlallah.html. I guess that being a PR arm for Hamas wasn't good enough for the Post...........

Okay, Philadelphia Inquirer

We get it. We KNOW that you hate President Bush: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/opinion/20070726_Editorial___An_Exit_Strategy_for_Iraq.html. I admit, I am not too fond of him these days myself. That said, this editorial is just the latest in a neverending series of anti-Bush screeds published by your paper. Who can forget that interminable procession of 21 (that's right, 21) consecutive editorial before the 2004 Presidential Election calling on voters to vote for Senator John Kerry.

Here's the fact of the matter, Philadelphia Inquirer. You have zero, and I mean zero, credibility when it comes the President. This editorial, which is nothing but a series of snide, dismissive attacks on the President, will do nothing to change that.

Why Fred Thompson doesn't look so appealing anymore

Look at Spencer Abraham, his appointee as his new campaign chief: http://www.debbieschlussel.com/archives/2007/07/jihad_fred_fred.html.

Read What Schlussel writes and then ask yourself whether you can trust this man to defend the country against Islamic terrorism. Ask yourself whether he will be supportive of Israel.

Murtha

I hate to accuse anyone of hating the military, let alone a decorated former marine, but I have to ask, what the hell is he thinking? No sooner does the last Democratic troop withdrawal plan go down in flames than he comes up with another one: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070725/ap_on_go_co/us_iraq.

Let's assume that this passes both the House and the Senate, which is far from certain. Does Murtha really expect that President Bush won't veto this bill? The Democrats don't seem likely to get anywhere close to a veto-proof majority, so all of this really amounts to nothing more than posturing and, more insidiously, attempting to weaken the resolve of the public in advance of the 2008 general election. It's shameful, when you think about it.

An inauspicous historical anniversary in Canada

I suppose that this could be reason #12,093,481,902,478 as to why I hate France. We have reached the fortieth anniversary of former French President Charles de Gaulle's visit to Canada, where he set in motion the wheels which would lead to the eventual election in Quebec of a separatist government by proclaiming from a downtown Montreal balcony "Vive le Quebec Libre!" (Long live a free Quebec): http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2007/07/24/qc-vivelequebeclibrea.html.

Let's leave aside for the moment the fact that de Gaule is one of the most overrated historical figures in World History. What he did was to interfere in the purely internal affairs of a supposed ally. By way of comparison, it would be like an American President going to Belfast and declaring "Long Live a Free Northern Ireland!". Odds are, the U.K. would not be happy at all if that happened.

Don't support the troops!

Why not? Because, as Ted Rall says, they aren't who the vast right wing conspiracy says they are: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucru/20070724/cm_ucru/pooranduneducatedlikewethought;_ylt=AqIgtevSzWzuyn2LMKn5CGsE1vAI.
No, you see, they are just a bunch of dumb, uneducated slobs. That's why they re-enlist in such high numbers. That is why they support the War in Iraq so strongly. They're stupid, and they just don't know any better.

Sigh...................

More on the delegitimization of Israel

I am in a group which discusses, among many other things, Israel, the War against Islamofascist Terror, etc. One of the things being discussed recently was the article to which I linked in a post yesterday, on how American public opinion is being swayed against Israel. I have deleted the name of the group and the identity of the person with whom I had the following exchange. Unfortunately, the postings are in reverse order. I couldn't seem to find a way to change them:

I don't disagree, but even if you want to discount the source of this particularly venomous article, there are all those others in "respectable" outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, L.A. Times, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, Boston Globe, Miami Herald, etc., etc., not to mention the wire services.

The Arab/Muslim world has learned many lessons over the past 59 years. They have come to realize that Israel cannot be defeated militarily, at least not yet. However, if you can de-legitimize the country, and cut off its support around the world (and particularly here in the U.S.), then it will become politically acceptable to contemplate, as Mahmoud Ahdmadinejad so quaintly put it, "a world without Zionism".

In order to win this PR battle, the Arabs have put those billions in oil revenue to good use. In addition to funding madrassas and mosques around the world (including here), they have funded Middle East Studies programs everywhere, all of which are hotbeds of anti-Israeli sentiment. The professors in these departments then go out and teach our kids. They have also formed an alliance of expediency with the Far Left around the world, and have used that alliance to spread the mythology that the Palestinians are blameless victims of colonialist/zionist/nazi/imperialist/fascist (take your pick of adjectives) terror and oppression. As well, they have funded think tanks such as the Carter Center and pressure groups such as CAIR.

The end result of all of this is that Israel is now fighting a war which is completely different from those which is previously fought. This is not a tank vs. tank, aircraft vs. aircraft, soldier vs. soldier battle. This is a battle of money and ideas, and it is one which in my view Israel is woefully underequipped and unprepared to fight. The results of it will not necessarily be seen today, tomorrow, or this year. It will be seen in the years to come, as those who have been brainwashed by the relentless onslaught of pro-Palestinian propaganda assume positions of power in politics, the media, business, etc.

Sorry to be so longwinded on my first foray into this discussion group, but that is why I am so pessimistic.

--------- wrote:>> > "Hello, I am new to this group, so pardon my intrusion! I am concerned that the views of this person are not so extreme or farfetched."

Welcome to the ----------! About your concerns - this article was published in 'Counterpunch', which has always been a fever swamp of scum and lunacy. It's not a respectable publication. The author of the piece, DiMaggio, seems to be believe that the media is biased in favor of Israel. DiMaggio and Counterpunch's opinions are extreme, even when compared with most members of the media (unless they work for the BBC or Reuters) However, DiMaggio's ravings are pretty normal for most> Saudi/Gulf-state-funded professors of Middle East studies. A lot of the negative press out there comes from interviews with 'respected academics' like DiMaggio. Anti-Israel sentiments also come from interviews with employees of the American state department, whose retirement funds are often paid for by our Saudi/Gulf state friends, who also own shares in many media> outlets. If we want to know where most of the anti-Israel sentiment is coming from, it helps to follow the money.

------------- wrote: Hello, I am new to this group, so pardon my intrusion! I am concerned that the views of this person are not so extreme or farfetched. Israel is in an existential war, one of whose fronts include a battle for legitimacy being fought in the media. And the fact of the matter is that this is a battle whichIsrael is losing decisively. If it were a prizefight, it would have been stopped in > > the first round. Don't believe me? Just watch what is reported on a daily basis on CNN, MSNBC, and yes, even Fox News. It's even worse elsewhere, where media outlets such as Canada's CBC, the UK's BBC, Australia's ABC and the wire services (includes Agence France Presse, Reuters Associated Press, etc.) all act as unofficial PR arms of the Palestinian "cause".

My point is that all of this relentlessly negative press about and towards Israel cannot help but have an effect on the way the Jewish state is viewed.

Wishful thinking or an honest assessment?

Some Angry Leftie has cobbled together a collection of stats and arguments to suggest that Americans really don't like Israel all that much, or at least as much is claimed: http://www.counterpunch.org/dimaggio07202007.html.

I don't know whether this is legitimate or not. I sure hope not, but given the relentlessly negative coverage of Israel in the MSM, I worry that it might be.

This could only happen San Francisco

Only in Bizarro Central, a/k/a the City by the Bay, could there be a "rally" like this: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/25003.

Is there ANYONE normal in that city???????????

Cindy Sheehan is going for it

I'll give her credit; she's not backing down, and though it took her a while, her bitterness at the hacks in the Democratic Party has finally come close to rivalling her antipathy towards the Republicans: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2007/07/22/INGC6R23F41.DTL.

So, now she's going to run against Nancy Pelosi. It would be like, in the old Soviet Union, Leon Trotsky running against Vladimir Lenin.............

More on Lebanon

Let me get this straight. The UNIFIL force is SUPPOSED to be in Lebanon to keep Hezbollah away from the border area and to make sure that it doesn't re-arm. Yet, one year after last summer's fun and frivolity, we are finding out that these UNIFIL pansies are now hiding behind Hezbollah's skirt because al Qaeda terrorists are roaming around: http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0724/p04s01-wome.html.

Memo to the UNIFIL forces: If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. You should be ashamed to call yourselves soldiers..............

One man's occupation.................

...................is another man's "boundary dispute". That is why Israeli is constantly berated for its supposed occupation of Shebaa Farms, a desolate 12-mile section of land which Hezbollah claims is Lebanese territory, while Syria's 30+ year occupation of Lebanese land goes unnoticed and unmentioned by politicians and journalists alike: http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/bstephens/?id=110010375.

Could this be read as a suggestion on my part that maybe there is a bias against Israel? Nah, couldn't be.......................

John Kerry's Perfidy

Honestly, I don't think that this man would know the truth if it smacked him in the face. His latest "pearls of wisdom" include a claim that we must all have been imagining the horrors that engulfed Southeast Asia after he and other like-minded activists, aided by sycophants in the media and Congress, forced first the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Vietnam and then, two years later, the complete cutoff of aid to the South Vietnamese government: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-kerry_zuckmanjul23,1,7201443,full.story.

The only problem, Senator Kerry, is that the violence and bloodshed you say didn't happen actually did, and it's been reported: http://www.dartcenter.org/dartaward/2002/hm3/01.html, http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0414/p09s02-coop.html.

Why is this so important? John Kerry is among those pushing hard for a precipitous U.S. withdrawal from Iraq where, given the sectarian tensions that exist, the situation is far more volatile than it ever was in Vietnam. Worse yet, the violence there would almost certainly formally drag in the neighbouring states, starting off with Turkey.

They say that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Well, how can you learn from history when you refuse to even acknowledge what the truth really is?

Killing John Doe

Michelle Malkin is "en fuego" over the Democratic intransigence on the "John Doe" bill which would allow anonymous complaints about suspicious (read: TERRORIST) actions: http://michellemalkin.com/2007/07/19/dont-let-the-dems-kill-the-john-doe-amendment/. Needless to say, CAIR is against this type of legislation because, after all, why should anyone be permitted to report this type of thing. And, it's not like the Islamofascists are violent or anything like that. I doubt that they'd do anything at all to those who displease them. Now, their lackeys in the Democratic Party are doing their dirty work for them.

I am completely disgusted..................

Iran's tentacles continue to grow

The Iranian connection to South America continues to strengthen: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/884707.html. Don't think that the Iranians are doing this because they want to foster peace, love, harmony and understanding. Their dealings with South America give them a base in this hemisphere, and puts their aspiring Jihadis within range of the United States and its interests.

Why do I get the feeling that no one in Washington, D.C., is paying any attention to this?

The Saudis torpedo the U.S. again

Not that we'll do anything but continue to lick their boots, of course. This time, they have apparently pulled out of the proposed Middle East Peace Conference this Fall: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3428179,00.html.

I did not hold out much hope that anything substantive would come of this conference, though Ehud Olmert would certainly have done his best to give up everything he could. However, without the Saudis the Conference will be an even bigger sham than was originally going to be the case.

For more on Saudi perfidy, you can go here: http://blogcentral.jpost.com/index.php?cat_id=4&blog_id=48&blog_post_id=1333.

Tattling

Call me a radical, but I don't have a problem with criminal informants. On the other hand, some other people do: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/home_region/20070722_Site_that_snitches_on_snitches_irks_judges.html. Yes, I know that a lot of the informants are pretty sleazy themselves (to put it mildly). Still, if it lands a big fish in jail, it's worth it. That's why the website mentioned in this article is such an abomination.

Iran is up to old tricks

And why shouldn't it be, given that they generally work: http://www.ocregister.com/opinion/iran-american-hostages-1781070-iranian-death. Iran is holding several U.S. citizens as hostages, and yet, the MSM ignores this completely. It's amazing. No matter what the Iranians do, they get away with it. Pursue nuclear weapons, no problem. Threaten another state (Israel) with extinction, no worries. Kidnap foreign soldiers international waters, that's just fine. Take citizens of a supposed superpower hostage, and it meets with silence.

I have to ask, has Iraq made the United States into a paper tiger? Osama Bin Laden keeps calling us that. Maybe he's right.

The 9/11 Generation is not the Baby Boomers

And in the eyes of at least one writer, that is a very good thing: http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/013/904pffgs.asp.

I don't know that there is a more self-absorbed and myopic generation than the Baby Boomers, but regardless of how you want to look at them, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon........

Whither the Democratic Party?

Let's be perfectly clear: The majority, and perhaps even the overwhelming majority, of Democratic legislators are supportive of Israel. There is no denying, however, that there is a growing trend in the party to listen to the voices of the fringe elements in the party who harbor a singular hatred of the Jewish state: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0707/4986.html.

Certainly, as the article points out, the Republicans have their anti-Israeli elements too, but the fact of the matter is that the alliance between the Democrats and certain antiwar groups (Code Pink, International ANSWER, etc.) has fostered a core group of anti-Israeli activits.

This is no surprise at all

Apparently, you don't need much of a brain--or a brain at all--to work as a tax official: http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0,1518,495607,00.html.

Actually, my personal thought is that given his IQ, or lack thereof, he is already overqualified for Congress.................

Here is the problem with the Angry Left

Apparently, it's not angry enough: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucru/20070717/cm_ucru/wrongandwhiteandreadallover;_ylt=AsoIZ5dv9Ol5wPVI7imJsjcE1vAI.

I'll give Ted Rall credit for one thing. At least he's honest about who he is and what he stands for.

Not a good time to be a sports fan

Is this a miserable to be a sports fan or what? In MLB, we have the ongoing chase for Hank Aaron's all-time home run record by the steroid-fueled Barry Bonds. In the NFL, we have a neverending series of player arrests, culminating in Michael Vick's arrest this week for unepseakable animal cruelty. Now, we have an NBA referee accused of point shaving, which goes to the very integrity of the sport: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2943095. And though it is not technically a sport, we have professional wrestlers (who are unquestionably athletes) dying left and right (and tragically, sometimes taking others with them) due to suspected steroid abuse.

I want to know, how do I explain all this to my oldest son? He is a diehard sports fan. You can't go two minutes on ESPN, Foxsports, or any sportscast without yet another story dealing with these issues. I am almost at the point where I want the television turned off.

War, anyone?

It's cliched, I know, but the situation in the Middle East is bad and getting worse. Let's leave aside for the moment what is going on in Iraq. I am speaking specifically about Israel, where an extremely weak leadership combined with a perception that the IDF is not what it was even 10 years ago have led to Israel now facing existential threats from the east, north and south. Make no mistake about it, this WILL erupt into a war at some point, and likely sooner rather than later: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1184168553291&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FPrinter.

Where are the David Ben Gurions, Moshe Dayans and Golda Meirs when you need them?

Saudi subversion of the United States

It galls me to no end that we here in the U.S. continue to cozy up to a country which is an archenemy in everything but name: http://www.nysun.com/pf.php?id=58739&v=7620594811. We are setting ourselves up for a civil unrest that will make what happened in France last year look like a holiday picnic. I would say that someone should get the message to the President, but he is beyond hope, especially on this issue.

Debunking fake Palestinian History

The battle over the existence of Israel takes many forms. It is military, it is economic, it is political, and it is historical. One of the more innovative approaches taken by the Palestinians is to claim that they are descended from the Jebusites, a tribe which inhabited the area before the Jewish conquest. Fortunately, this is a claim which is easily disproven: http://www.meforum.org/article/1713.

The bottom line, I guess, is that if you hate Israel, you will find any reason to deny its legitimacy.

Just say (N)OPEC

A bill is winding its way through Congress which would allow OPEC to be sued under United States antitrust legislation: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/opinion/20070720_Instead_of_trying_to_make_OPEC_behave__U_S__should_cut_the_tie.html. President Bush, in his latest bad decision, has already vowed to veto the bill if it reaches his desk, though given the anti-OPEC sentiment in the country right now (Gee, I wonder why........), there is at least a fair chance that this veto could be overriden.

The Op-Ed which discusses the bill, however, raises another good point. We need as a society to find an alternative fuel source, and soon. Every penny that we use to buy oil goes to organizations or countries which hate us. We are directly funding our enemies. How in the world can that be justified? This is a society which has developed computers whose computing capacity is approaching that of the human brain, and yet we can't find an alternative to oil? What's wrong with that picture?

UPDATE (12:35 p.m.): Here's another reason to find an alternative fuel source: http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/oil/index.html.

How bad is it at the U.N.?

Even that U.N. cheerleader otherwise known as the Philadelphia Inquirer has strarted to publish some Op-Eds which are critical of the farcical Human Rights Commission: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/opinion/20070720_Back_Channels___The_human-rights_charade_at_the_United_Nations_goes_on.html.

I'd like to see one person defend what this organization has done. ONE person. I can pretty much guarantee that this person, if they exist, will simply be an Israel-hater.

Leftists and Islamofascists of the world, UNITE!

They have already done so in (where else?) San Francisco: http://www.jewishsf.com/content/2-0-/module/displaystory/story_id/33058/format/html/displaystory.html. I will admit, I have never been to San Francisco, though I have always wanted to go there. I have heard from both friends and family that it is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and the pictures and films I have seen support that view.

That said, why does it seem like every crackpot and lunatic in North America seems to gravitate towards the place? Only in a city which screeches constantly about its "tolerance" could you have a story like this, where that supposed tolerance becomes a justification for anti-Semitism. It defies belief.

Dennis Prager

I normally like what he has to say, but he just made a comment on his radio, just afer 12:30 p.m. my time, which I found to be (for lack of a better word) idiotic. He was talking about the Michael Vick situation, and said, in not so many words, that human suffering concerns him more than animal suffering because humans can suffer while animals can only experience pain. Really? Has he ever seen a dog react to an upraised hand? It demonstrates fear.

Here's another example. Before Mrs. BHG and I acquired Sadie and Phoebe, our younger two commando bassets, we had another female basset named Sprint. Sprint had to be put down in September of 2005 because she was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, a particularly insidious form of cancer. After she was put down, Flash moped around the house, and whenever we let him outside, he would invariably go to the spot where Sprint used to sit, as if to wait for her. He did this for months, and he also stopped eating. There is NO doubt in my mind that he was demonstrating sadness and suffering.

Don't tell me that animals can't or don't experience suffering.................

Post script: Prager just redeemed himself somewhat by making the correct point that when people are cruel to animals, it is generally a good indicator that someone will be cruel to other people. The converse, as he notes, is not necessarily true. There is no connection between being kind to animals and being kind to people. After all, the Nazis loved their pets.......

Iraq, if we leave

Jeff Jacoby is one of the few--maybe the only--clear thinkers at the Boston Globe. Here he writes about what would become of Iraq if U.S. troops are pulled out precipitously, as so many in this country apparently want: http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2007/07/18/the_consequences_of_quitting_iraq/. And he's not the only one who thinks that the situation is bleak: http://www.townhall.com/columnists/AustinBay/2007/07/18/iraqi_withdrawal_seven_scenarios.

Amazingly, Jacoby doesn't even write about the scariest of the scenarious. If we pull out suddenly, not only will Iraq turn into Afghanistan before the U.S.-led invation in October of 2001, it will have oil money to fuel the undoubtedly radical government that is established there. Does anyone seriously think that that oil money will be used for anything other than funding terrorism?

The Angry Left eats its own

It's kind of amusing, in a perverse sort of way, to watch the Left thrash about as it grapples with erstwhile icon Cindy Sheehan's promise/threat to run against Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi: http://commentisfree.guardian.co.uk/niall_stanage/2007/07/the_epic_narcissism_of_cindy_s.html.

If Sheehan does run, she is almost certain to be trounced by Pelosi, whose power base in San Francisco is as strong as the foundation of the Golden Gate Bridge. It would, however, be a fun race to watch!

Not everyone is pessimistic about the Middle East

Not surprisingly, this comes from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/19/opinion/19helprin.html?_r=1&oref=slogin. This writer believes that some form of peace can be obtained. I would like to know why. To me, the situation is as bleak as it ever has been.

CAIR: Muslim terrorism? WHAT Muslim Terrorism?

You see, it's all in your head, and evi/Nazi/Fascist/Chimpy/Imperialist/Colonialist/Zionist Stooge George W. Bush has created whatever enmity exists between Muslims and the United States with his policies: http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070717/NATION/107170083/1001. Apparently, Muslims loved the United States before Iraq. Leon Klinghoffer in 1986? Must have been Zionists who killed him. The 1993 attack on the World Trade Center? More Jewish perfidy. The 1996 Khobar Towers bombing? Obviously nothing but a CIA ruse to justify attacks on Islam. The 1998 Embassy Bombings in Africa? More Mossad treachery.

If there is anyone--ANYONE--with a half a brain who buys what CAIR is selling, they are delusional, idiotic or just hate the United States, or some combination of all three.

Afghanistan Redux

News item: NATO Mission in Afghanistan is failing because of a lack of troop commitment: http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/07/18/afghanistan-nato.html. No................REALLY? YOU THINK?

Canada wants to pull its troops out. Germany and Italy won't let their troops fight. This story is supposed to surprise people? The unfortunate fact is that Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri are right. We in the West do NOT have the heart to fight them. We always give up because any casualty is one too many, and our enemy couldn't care less about casualties.

Beyond the Pale

This story is one of those that just absolutely sickens me. Football fans across North America have followed the the stroy of Michael Vick, and the dogfighting kennels which were found on his property. Well, now he has been indicted: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/20070718_Vick_indicted_in_dogfighting_case.html. The details of the indictment are absolutely horrific, not only for the fact that this type of barbaric activity still takes place in a supposedly civilized society, but for the way that dogs who lost fights were "disposed of".

I've railed against Barry Bonds, but stories like this one provide a perspective check. Who has Bonds ultimately hurt? When he dies at a young age, we'll know the answer to that question. Vick, on the other hand, and if the allegations contained in the indictment are proven, has engaged in conduct which is abominable. Can anyone out there explain the mentality that thinks that dogfighting is acceptable? Is it just me who finds this so reprehensible?

Zionist Death Squirrels!

Iran's much-feared secret service has struck again, arresting 14 (count 'em, 14) squirrels on the grounds that the offending rodents are spies: http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30200-1274983,00.html?f=rss. This sounds like it should be a headline from The Onion or a story on The Daily Show, but amazingly, it is not.

And these are the people who we are supposed to be involving in the discussion about Iraq's future?

Options in Iraq

Michael Rubin of the American Enterprise Insttitute, who is a much, much smarter person than I am, feels as though we do have some: http://www.meforum.org/article/1712. I am not sure what we should do, though I am 100% that the Democratic plan of a quick and permanent withdrawal are at best foolhardy and more likley dangerous..........

Barry Bonds and race relations

How did Barry Bonds' pursuit of Hank Aaron's all-time home run record come to be a racial thing? African Americans are supporting him, Caucasians apparently are not: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19796395/.

To me, this has never been about race. Bonds could be purple for all I care. The way I see it, he cheated, and just for good measure, he's a smacked ass. That's why I cheer against him. Hank Aaron was the personification of class, and he's African American too. So, I ask, how is this about race?

Continued Delusion

Apparently, the morphing of Bush 43 into Bush 41 is nearly complete. Now, President George W. Bush is calling for a Middle East Peace Conference, which will be attended by Israel, the Palestinians and an unknown number of Arab states: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070716-7.html.

Honestly, who the hell is he kidding? The Arab States still haven't recognized Israel. In fact they have specifically said that they will never do so until and unless Israel withdraws from every square inch of the West Bank, including all of East Jerusalem--and even then, I doubt that they will follow through on their promise. Only Ehud Olmert and the members of the Israeli government seem to think that the Palestinians will be satisfied if Israel withdraws from the West Bank. Hamas has already said that it will never accept the existence of Israel on the "Occupied Territory", but of course, no one seems to want to admit that Hamas is referring to all of Israel, not just the West Bank. So, terrorism will continue, and if Israel does pull out of the West Bank, we'll see rockets being launched at Ted Aviv and West Jerusalem.

The situation is no longer frustrating. It is now just depressing.

Oil

Oil is going bye-bye. It's not going to happen today, or tomorrow, or even 10 years from tomorrow, but make no mistake about it, it IS going to happen: http://www.reason.com/news/show/121436.html.

The fact of the matter is that we MUST find an alternative fuel source. Look at who our primary suppliers of oil are currently: The Saudis, who hate us. Venezuela, which hates us. Russia, which hates us. Do we really want to keep funding countries whose actions and interests are diametrically opposed to ours? I'm just asking...............

10,000 has come and gone

Give the Philadelphia Phillies credit. When they lost their 10,000th game on Sunday (to the St. Louis Cardinals), they did so in typical Phillies style: No pitching, little hitting. Final score: 10-2: http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/gamecenter/recap/MLB_20070715_STL@PHI.

Now, it's on to the next 10,000, which began with a 10-3 drubbing by the Dodgers in Los Angeles last night.

More "Bush is Hitler" rhetoric

This time, it comes from none other than Keith Ellison, Congressman from the State of Minnesota: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/07/14/wbush114.xml. Still, if no one is going to call these people when the offensive and inappropriate comparisons are made, they'll keep doing it.

British P.M. Gordon Brown hits bottom.......begins digging

I don't even think that this qualifies as politically correct, because that would be unduly complimentary: http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/13304.

Gordon Brown, whose 2 1/2 weeks in power are making everyone nostalgic for Tony Blair, has decided that British schools should not be teaching students about Sir Winston Churchill or the other major world leaders during the WWII era. Nope, that would be offensive. Instead, they'll get classes on global warming and................wait for it.......................ARABIC. I kid you not.

Was there a full moon the other day?

All of the nutcases are coming out of the woodwork. This time it is aspiring Presidential candidate Ron Paul of Texas claiming that the U.S. Government might stage a terrorist attack of its own to draw attention away from the situation in Iraq: http://www.breitbart.tv/html/3013.html.

Who knows, maybe Paul was just testing the waters to see if Rosie O'Donnell would be willing to serve as his running mate, assuming that he gets the Republican nomination.

What causes heart attacks?

As it turns out, virtually everything: http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20070713/sc_livescience/sextoearthquakeswhatcausesheartattacks.

Pardon me while I curl up in a fetal position under my desk right now................

An Unhinged Angry Left

Get a load of these words of wisdom from a guy whose hatred of the United States may exceed even that of Hugo Chavez: http://www.smirkingchimp.com/thread/8656.

I have nothing to say about this article. None whatsoever. It just needs to be read to be believed. The comments on it are even more amazing.

Venezuela thumbs its nose at the U.S..............AGAIN

Hugo Chavez has seemingly made it his mission in life to be as anti-American as he can possibly be. It's one thing to talk the talk, but now it appears as though his government is starting to walk the walk: http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/07/us-diplomatic-a.html.

Watch and worry, my friends, watch and worry..............

Find me a dead horse and I shall beat it

Sigh. Doesn't ANYONE get it? You can not have peace where one side (the Palestinian one) refuses to acknowledge the existence of the other side (Israel), let alone that there might be validity to that other side's positions.

Nonetheless, Jordan's King Abdullah is in Canada, and he and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper have agreed to a joint effort to try and revive the moribund Middle East "Peace Process" (you know, the one that obligates Israel to give up land and fund the terrorist attacks against it). The analogy of a gerbil in a wheel keeps going through my mind.............

Job Security

Only in the bizarro worlds of Quebec and Canadian politics could this even be an issue, because only in Canada would you have a situation where a Quebec separatist would be a Federal government employee: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2007/07/12/ot-pich-070712.html. So, this dufus decides that to run as a separatist candidate in the recent Quebec election, and after the election (which he did not win), he ends up losing his job as a federal employee.

I don't see what the problem is here. If you decide to run in a provincial election for a party that is advocating the breakup of Canada, why SHOULD your job be safe?

Still MORE on Lebanon

Lebanon's recovery from last summer's war will likely be short and not very sweet: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3424693,00.html.

Does this surprise anyone? Did anyone think that the Syrians and Iranians would be satisfied with the status quo?

Lebanon

As indicated in previous posts, the situation in Lebanon is at best a mess: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070713/ts_nm/lebanon_fighting_dc.

There is one thing about this story that NO ONE seems to be discussing, however, and that is, WHY are there still Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, or any other area of the Arab world? Are there Jewish refugee camps for the hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees who either fled or were expelled from Arab states in 1948? No, of course not, because Israel integrated them into its society, unlike Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, etc., all of which kept the Palestinians in camps in a cynical decision that this would be better from a P.R. standpoint. Still, almost no one talks about this, and on those rare occasions where it is discussed, it is usually in the context of condemning Israel.

More hate speech on YouTube

Here is an Islamofascist wacko crowing with happiness about Daniel Pearl's death: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq9MTeA7V_k.

If any of you have YouTube accounts, PLEASE flag this video as inappropriate hate speech. Given what is on YouTube these days, it seems to be open season on Jews and Israel.

Map(s) of the Middle East

A fascinating look at how the Middle East has evolved over the past 3,000 years: http://www.mapsofwar.com/images/EMPIRE17.swf.

It also puts into perspective just how small Israel is. Look at the size of the Arab countries which surround it. Outside of Lebanon, they are all much, much larger. Yet, it is Israel which is accused of "oppressing" its neighbours.

Thursday, July 12, 2007

Lebanon is a mess

Ever since last year's war between Israel and Hezbollah/Syria/Iran, there has been a "beefed up" U.N. force in Lebanon, supposedly with the goal of keeping the Israelis and Hezbollah apart. Now, it seems as though the U.N. force is actually seeking out Hezbollah's help to protect it from al Qaeda attacks: http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,1642243,00.html.

You know what, my caption for this blog entry is wrong. The situation in Lebanon would have to improve just to be a mess.......................

Whither Pakistan?

What has been going on there should concern us all: http://www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml?i=20070723&s=bergen072307. If that country falls into the hands of the Taliban elements in Pakistan, as could very well occur, we would be facing a country with a seventh century mentality and nuclear weapons. You can be sure that if this occurs, the new government will be only too happy to disseminate its nuclear technology to its terrorist buddies.

Isolating Israel

Thanks to the Bookworm for this one. The Arab/Muslim world is nothing if not smart. It learned from previous mistakes and very cannily found that the way to ultimately defeat Israel was not on the battlefield in a conventional war, but in the universities and other educational institutions. Now, it has taken another step in that march to the deligitimizing and isolating of the Jewish state, with its effort to make some dents in the heretofore firm Evangelical support for Israel: http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2007/07/post_56.html.

Let's not forget, we live in a world where President Peanut Farmer, who IS an Evangelical Christian, writes a superficial and factually inaccurate book which glibly compares Israel to South Africa and it becomes a best seller. I don't know how Israel can respond in kind to this type, but somehow, it needs to find a way to do so.

A Gay Debate?

I find this story to be extremely interesting. The Democratic Presidential candidates will participate in a debate on "Gay Issues" which will be aired on and sponsored in part by a self-proclaimed gay channel known as the Logo Channel: http://ktla.trb.com/news/ktla-gaydebate,0,2961368.story?coll=ktla-news-2.

So, the Democrats are willing to do this (to which I do not object at all), but they're not willing to appear on Fox News. Amazing.......................

One woman's counterjihad

This is an absolutely fascinating read: http://www.meforum.org/article/1711. A Montana mom learned Arabic and helped break up Jihadi attacks! It's an amazing story.

You want "Disproportionate"?

I'll give you disproportionate: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/880783.html. The last I checked, Fatah al Islam had not launched a single attack on Lebanese soil. It hadn't provoked a war with Israel. It wasn't doing anything, near as I can tell. But there the Lebanese is, killing scores of people with much more bloodshed to come. I am wondering when the U.N. Security Council will act on THIS pressing issue. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Oh, that's right, the U.N. only jumps into action when those uppity Jews are involved..........

The Los Angeles Times equals the Washington Post and New York Times

Apparently, the prime newspaper in Southern California felt slighted that Hamas Op-Eds were only published on the East Coast, and that the millions of people living in the Los Angeles Basin should also get to read Hamas' "viewpoint": http://ws.collactive.com/points/point?id=aCXIB0DqpWUo.

You have to wonder if the amoral (and arguably immoral) individuals obviously inhabiting the editorial boards of these newspapers would have given space during World War II to Adolph Hitler or Benito Mussolini for Op-Eds. Too extreme? How about Vidkun Quisling? The head of Vichy France?

Truly, these peope are without shame.

Battlefield England, Part Fifteen

A very rare bit of good news out of Great Britain, where the membership of the National Union of Journalists has abandoned plans for a boycott of Israel: http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,,2123001,00.html.

Undoubtedly, the main factor behind the decision to abandon the planned boycott was the international scorn which was being rightfully heaped onto an organization which was supposed to be unbiased (though if you see anything out of the BBC, you will see how slanted the media there really is).

I do not expect this issue to go away. This is but one small victory in a much larger battle...............

Great Post on my blog

Someone posted the following comment, which was so funny/good that I had to give it its own entry:

Dr C. Riyal Kilah said...
Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,I have something terrible to report.

I have come home from the hospital feeling very upset. All the radiation sources have disappeared from the oncology department - probably those Buddhists up to their tricks again.

The kaffir hospital management (Inshallah may they soon die of strange, undiagnosable ailments and be replaced by Islamic brothers) called an emergency meeting addressed by a kaffir police officer. This institutionally-racist representative of the oppressive Zionist-Crusader alliance said that the radiation sources could be "Used by terrorists to make a dirty bomb".

I was extremely hurt and distressed by this statement. I forcefully pointed out that there is no such thing as a terrorist. Gordon Brown himself (pbuh) has said so. The word 'terrorist' is hate-speech - it is a racist term of abuse used by bigots, Islamophobes and BNP supporters (Inshallah may they find themselves upon our operating tables tended by Muslim anaesthetists) to vilify peaceful Muslims.

I have written to Sir Ian B.Liar demanding the officer's dismissal and prosecution for racist verbal assault. I intend to sue the Metropolitan Police for the post-traumatic emotional stress this appalling incident has caused me, and will continue to cause me for the next fifty years. I have been examined by four independent Muslim psychiatrists who will vouch for my mental suffering (I'll accept an out of court settlement of £500,000 in a five-way split, Inshallah).

I just hope I've recovered enough by next week to be able to attend the annual dinner of the Muslim Medical Malpractitioners' Association. My colleague Dr Aggun I. Singh-Deth will be receiving the Dr Josef Mengele (pbuh) Prize for innovation in surgical procedures, and I am due to give a presentation on performance evaluation for our new Dr Harold Shipman (pbuh) Award for meeting mortality rate targets (One point for a standard kaffir, two for a dancing slag, three for a Jew, four for an Islamophobic blogger, five for an apostate and 100 for Sir Salman Rushdie).

I must finish now, as night has fallen and I have noticed a strange green light in the back of my car. Probably glowworms.

Iraq is lost

Well, no, not really, but you'd never gather that from the reports in the MSM, which is slavishly devoting all of its resources to proclaiming that the Surge has already failed, and to publicizing the week-kneed proclamations of Republicans who are doing their best Cowardly Lion impression: http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110010320.

Is Iraq Malibu, or the Hamptons, or Palm Beach? Of course not. It never will be. To declare the Surge a failure just as it is really getting started, however, is the ultimate in irresponsible and mendacious behaviour.

Rachel Corrie

Dead for four years, she is still haunting Israel, this time as her parents pursue a Quixotic lawsuit against Caterpillar, claiming that the tractor and industrial machinery giant "knew" that its equipment was being used to commit human rights violations: http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/07/10/america/NA-GEN-US-Israel-Corrie-Caterpillar.php.

Really? I wasn't aware that destroying the homes of terrorists constituted a human rights violation. While I can't help but sympathize somewhat for the Corrie's loss of their child, it is clear from a reading of their comments that the apple did not fall far at all from the tree in this case. The left wing lunacy of their daughter, which led to her hating her own country and attempting to protect terrorists, was either genetic or learned, but either way, it came from them.

More from Cindy Sheehan...........Congressional Candidate

Here she is, in her own words and, apparently, she thinks that while imprisoning Islamofascists is wrong, caging Conservatives would be just fine: http://www.thecampcaseypeaceinstitute.org/.

I’m not backing off. I tried to remove myself from the political realm of the US, what BushCo is turning into an Evil Empire, but the blatant audacity of George commuting Scooter’s sentence (he’s not ruling out a full pardon ---and you know he will) has dragged me kicking and screaming back in. I can’t sit back and let this BushCo drag our country further down into themurky quagmire of Fascism and violence, taking the rest of the world with them!

I have sat quietly back these past five weeks as the slaughter in Iraq sorrowfully surges along with George’s bloody escalation---and as the philosophical opposition to the war has soared to almost four out of every five Americans. I have remained silent when Senator Barack Obama said that impeachment is onlyreserved for “grave, grave” breeches! Well, BushCo has created hundreds of thousands of graves dug by their lies and greed. For cripes’ sake, George admitted to breaking the FISA Act (which is a felony) that also breeched the 4th Amendment to our Constitution thatalready prohibited illegal search and seizure. How was Bill Clinton’s offense graver than George's, Dick's,or Scooter's? Did we ever think that the criminalityand arrogance of the Nixon White House would be eclipsed in our time with nary a “baaaah” from the Sheeple in Congress?

George has said that America doesn’t “do torture” when we have all seen the images of torture from Abu Ghraib (don’t believe your lyin’ eyes) and know that hundreds of people sold to the US Army for an immoral bounty are incarcerated within the inhumane confines of Guantanamo Prison which is right in our own back yard.I have had to bite my tongue---HARD---as the George and Dick crime cabal, (formerly known has the executive branch) have claimed that their offices are not to be held up to the same standards of accountability and control as any other entity in the human race, governmental or private.

It has been recently reported that Nancy Pelosi said that impeachment is not “worth it.” Her faulty reasoning is that impeachment would take too much time because they don’t have the votes. If they could“whip” their own Democratic caucus into shape to defend and protect our Constitution and the people of Iraq and our soldiers as they whupped, cajoled, threatened and browbeat the caucus into attaching“non-binding” time lines onto the last war funding bill, then impeachment would not only be possible, but likely. The recent commutation of I. Scooter Libby’s sentence, however, was the straw that broke my camel’s back of exhausted ennui. Patrick Fitzgerald is a thoughtful and thorough prosecutor who did a heroic job of bringing at least one of the Bush Crime Mob to justice. Even though we were all very pleased, we knew that it was not enough and that Mr. Fitzgerald would delve deeper into the feces infested executive branch.

The lawlessness of the Bush Administration has reached wild west proportions and the inmates definitely have control of the US(A)sylum.

A very dear friend of mine, Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus, is being harassed by the Air Force for “Conduct Unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman”because “The Rev” fulfills his duty as an Officer and a Gentleman honorably by protesting Iraq and the Fascist Bush Regime almost constantly. The Rev is still in Individual Ready Reserve so the Air Force believes it is within its parameters to pursue the charges, although every “Officer and Gentleman(woman)”should be protesting the atrocious mistakes in the Middle East. After The Rev’s hearing on July 12th, (inMacon, GA) he is going to begin a “symbolic” walk from the Reverend Martin Luther King’s grave (Atlanta, GA)to DC---I am going to be there for him and to begin the march, but I am not going to make it symbolic.

We are going to walk from Atlanta, GA to Congress beginning July 13th and ending up in DC on July 23rdto send the mis-leaders back home to face the music of justice in their own districts.

It is about time us “peasants” (in the eyes of the Fascist Ruling Elite) march on DC with our“pitchforks” of righteous anger and our “torches” of truth to demand the ouster of BushCo. I have a dream of the detention centers that George has built and filled being instead filled with Orange Clad neo-consand neo-connettes.

If Congress won’t dig BushCo’s political grave, it is the People’s job to do so. Thomas Jefferson said that we need a Revolution every 20 years, or so, to keep our Republic honest. Over 225 years have passed since our last Revolution (if you don't count the War Between the States) and we are long overdue for one.

Turn off your TVs, kiss your pets goodbye, bring the kids and flock to the federal seat of corruption, or join us on our walk there, for a People's Accountability Movement to be in the face of the Criminal BushCo and the Complicit Congress for the last week of session before they go on their undeserved vacations (why do they get vacations when the Iraqi parliamentarians don’t?)On the eve of our first revolution: You know it’sright!

Author’s note: Please, I already see “Attention WhoreBack.” If anyone thinks that I am going to walk hundreds of miles in the Deep South during July for attention, then please join us! We will be publishing our route and plans for Accountability events along the way, within the next few days. Stay tuned.

If today's MSM existed 70 years ago

A good friend of mine by the name of Paul wrote the following. It is absolutely fantastic:

WHAT IF......Hitler and the National Socialists had Conducted Themselves More Like the Saudis, the Islamists, Hamas and Al-Qaeda? Or what if Hitler came to power in 2007? (with some corrections)

Danzig, Poland (AP): Yesterday, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device near a Polish police station, killing three policemen and four civilians; this was the third such bombing in a week. In addition, another bomb went off near Warsaw's largest Jewish synangogue earlier in the same day, killing three rabbis. The activist who killed himself in Danzig is believed to be a member of the pro-German nationalist Volkfrei movement; and while no one is yet claiming responsibility for the Warsaw bombing, some believe that it may have been planted by militants affilliated with the German Schutzstaffel, or SS.

The German Government immediately distanced itself from the bombings and denounced terrorism. "Although we support the nationalist and political aspirations of the Volkfrei organization, we do not support the use of violence as a means to achieve these otherwise legitimate ends," declared Joachim von Ribbentrop, head of the German Foreign Ministry. "We will continue to work toward re-unification with illegally occupied German lands in western Poland, but this will be done through peaceful means. However unfortunate the spontaneous outbursts of violence we have seen, they are the expressions of despair and hopelessness from an oppressed, occupied people. As we have repeatedly stated, Anschluss will bring peace."

As for the Warsaw bombing, von Ribbentrop declared that the SS had nothing to do with it: "As we have seen time and again, Jewish terrorists have resorted to bombing their own places of worship in order to bring discredit upon the government of the Fuehrer. They have assassinated our foreign dignitaries and party representatives (referring to the killing of Ernst vom Rath, a German embassy official in Paris, and Wilhlem Gustloff, a Nazi Party activist in Switzerland, both murdered by Jews), and now they are bringing a reign of terror upon the rest of Europe-- all because we have chosen to stand up to belligerent Jewish economic and financial hegemony. We can all be thankful that Soviet leader Stalin, since the agreement reached in our non-aggression pact, has been a cooperative partner in cracking down on Jewish militarism and agitation in his own government-- otherwise, the Jews would have instigated another European war by now."

Although some cite Germany's Nuremburg Laws of 1935 as proof of the Third Reich's hostility toward Jews, this is refuted by Ribbentrop: "These laws represent the nationalist sentiment of the Deutsches Volksgemeinschaft. We don't want our culture corrupted, and our citizens de-Germanized, by a foreign people. The situation is truly quite the opposite-- it is the oppression of the German people in the occupied territories of western Poland, by the Jews, which is the real crime."

Many in the League of Nations agree; the international body has once again passed a resolution demanding that Poland cede the territories of Silesia, Pomerania and Danzig to Germany. Moreover, as many Jews flee Germany for Palestine, the League, in another general assembly vote, denounced the efforts by Zionist militants to re-establish the state of Israel. "Israel, as a state, has been dead for two-thousand years," stated a representative of the German delegation, Hans Frank. "Indigineous Arab-Muslims live there now, and a revived Jewish state would offend them greatly. They have their own grievances with the Jews, too, and they have been victims of Jewish terrorism as well."

A movement toward peace, and an easing of tensions, has been gaining ground in Poland, where the Socialist Labor Party gained a large number of seats in the last parliamentary elections. Although the SLP does not have enough seats to name a Prime Minister, many believe that this will happen in the next round of voting-- after which Poland will take a new stance with Germany. "Silesia, Pomerania and Danzig must be placed on the negotiating table, as they have German majority populations," stated Socialist Labor Party Chairman Tomasz Markowski. "The violence in these territories is escalating, and war must be avoided at all costs."

Since last year, a low-intensity guerilla war has been waged between the Polish authorities and Volkfrei activists joined by fighters with the Pro-German Schwerpunkt Kampgruppen. Although these are viewed by many as proxies for the Hitler government, German officials continue to claim that these forces protect the local German populations from Jewish aggression and atrocities. Deflecting accusations that the local Germans are breeding a culture of hatred (which, in turn, provides ample volunteers for suicide bombings), SS Reichsfuehrer Heinrich Himmler declares that the nationalist movements "reflect the love of the Volk for their Heimat (homeland), which they only wish to join; but for the the Volksturm, that is, the Volkfrei and the Schwerpunkt Kampfgruppen, the Jews would have committed genocide against the Germans in the occupied territories."

Movements toward maintaining peace are not just gaining ground in Poland, but are present everywhere among the major powers of western Europe. Spanish leader Francisco Franco has declared that he will join the Tripartite Pact of Germany, Italy and Japan. In addition, since the collapse of the Deladier government last year, French President Henri Petain has not only made friendly overtures to Germany, but is also rumored to be considering membership in the Tripartite Pact as well. In Great Britain, an ailing Prime Minister Chamberlain is expected to step down within days, after which he will be succeeded by Lord Halifax; the latter has proclaimed that peace will prevail under his government, and that the "embarassment" of "Germanophobia" will not lead his country "into another catastrophe akin to the Great War." Halifax is believed to be referring to former First Lord of the Admiralty Winston Churchill, branded by many in Parliament as a "Germanophobe" and a "warmonger" because of his dire predictions and warnings with regard to dealings with the Hitler government. Many in Parliament are demanding that Churchill be arrested and jailed under new laws which have illegalized "war agitation" and "slander against foreign nations" (which could lead to war).

A great supporter of "recognition and reconciliation" with Germany is Joseph Kennedy, former American Ambassador to Britain and burgeoning presidential candidate. "Germany is a great, peaceful nation with whom dialogue should be undertaken, and with whom friendly relations are possible," declared Kennedy. "Germany is forming new alliances not only with the Soviet Union, but with the western democracies as well. Why should we ever choose the path of war with a country which so obviously seeks peace? It is now clear to all-- Hitler wants peace. National Socialism means peace. Germany is peace."

Although the Roosevelt Administration has taken a more combative stance and has threatened military force against the alleged use of covert terrorism by the Hitler government, there has been a different tone of late given the apparent popularity and resonance of Ambassador Kennedy's pronouncements. Seeking to avoid losses in the upcoming mid-term elections, administration officials have backed off of prior sabre-rattling. "The German people are a great, peaceful people," says Secretary State Cordell Hull. "We continue to worry about some of the extremism demonstrated by their government, but we know that this in no way reflects upon the greatness of the Teutonic nation. We will continue to explore diplomatic avenues and rapproachment with the Hitler government."

The president of the German-American Bund, August Wehier, continues to demand that relations be normalized while he continues to fight a legal and public relations battle with "Germanophobia." He states: "America is a nation of minorities and immigrants-- and the largest minority in this country is the German minority. Under no circumstances should international terror ever be linked with the words "German," "Germany" or "National Socialism". For too long the Roosevelt Administration has acted under such bigoted presumptions, no doubt fueled by Jewish paranoia in New York and Washington. The Greater German Reich has nothing to do with the terror we have seen in recent times, and flare-ups of violence in disputed territories are only the result of legitimate grievances and self-defense."

In an effort to ease tensions and promote dialogue, President Roosevelt joined Wehier in dedicating the newest Adolf Hitler school in Washington, D.C. The Adolf Hitler schools, fuinded by the Fatherland Foundation, are for American school-age children of German descent whose communities have been unable to support adequate public education because of the economic downturns of recent years. Although attacked by critics as "indoctrination centers for National Socialist ideology," Wehier praised the schools for providing free education to poor children during hard times. He dismissed the allegation of political indoctrination as more Germanophobia from paranoid Jews.

The Summer of Love, this ain't

You want to know what's coming this summer, or if not this summer then soon after? Here is what's in the cards in the Middle East: http://www.upi.com/International_Intelligence/Analysis/2007/07/09/commentary_israel_and_hezbollah_round_2/7836/. Israel is in an existential war. Right now that war is in a cold phase, but that cannot last forever.

So, the questions I have are:

1) Will Israel finish the job this time?
2) Will the world stop Israel from doing what it must?
3) Will Iran officially get involved, especially if their Hezbollah and Syrian proxies appear headed for defeat?
4) Will the U.S. intervene if Israel appears to be headed for defeat?
5) Will Israel use nuclear weapons if it appears that it is being defeated?
6) Will the Olmert government survive the war?
6) Will the Saudis and Egyptians get involved?
7) Will Hamas open a second (third?) front from Gaza?
8) Will the "Boycott Israel" movement gain or lose energy once the fighting begins?
9) What will Russia and China do?
10) Will al Qaeda or its affiliates take advantage of the situation to launch terrorist attacks in the West, and what form would those attacks take?
11) Will Pakistan get involved in any Middle East conflict?

I don't have the answers to these questions. If any of my readers do, I would welcome them...............

Hugo Chavez, in his own words

The man is an absolute nutcase, but given his oil revenue, is one to be taken very seriously: http://www.vheadline.com/readnews.asp?id=74558. He sings the praises of Iran, and speaks in very flowery language about the "Colonialist West". In short, he sounds like what he is, which is a modern day version of Fidel Castro. However, Fidel Castro never had--and still doesn't have--the power to cause us the grief that Chavez has already caused.............

Battlefield England, Part Fourteen

Melanie Phillips is by far one of the most astute commentators out there insofar as England and Islam are concerned. Unfortunately she is, by and large, ignored by her fellow Brits as they fall all over themselves to be "tolerant" (I would submit that cowardly acquiescence can sometimes be mistaken for tolerance) and proclaim that Islam is a religion of Peace (and thank YOU, President Bush, for giving us that expression).

Really, Melanie is the proverbial voice in the wilderness. No matter how much she may proclaim the dangers that our society faces, no one, especially in the U.K., is listening: http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2007/07/britians-war-ag.html. They're too busy denying who is attacking them and boycotting Israel......................

A lukewarm endorsement of the United States

Richard Cohen is your stereotypical liberal Jew. In so many ways, frankly, he reminds me of my late parents. He absolutely can't stand Republicans in general and President George W. Bush in particular. In his latest column, he writes about resentment of the United States in the Arab and Muslim world: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/07/honored_by_some_antiamerican_h.html.

While much is his column is devoted to the knee-jerk self-hate (we DESERVE to be hated! Abu Ghraib! Guantanamo!), even he can't help but note that hatred of the United States existed long before the invasions of Afghanistan or Iraq. You can tell, though. It really HURT for him to acknowledge that...............

Maybe they're overreacting just a little bit?

A 12 year old from Houston, Texas, was kicked out of her school for four months for the unpardonable crime of writing on a school wall that she loved a fellow student: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4949703.html.

The poor girl has acknowledged that she should not have written on the wall, but doesn't it seem more than a little absurd that she received the same penalty that someone who wrote "Kill all the Jews" would have have received?

President Bush is NOT as bad as Hitler

No, no, in fact, he's WORSE: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/peter-mehlman/at-least-they-didnt-mean_b_53094.html.

The Angry Left in this country long ago lost its moral compass and its already tenuous connection to reality. Still, even by its standards, this is bizarre. WORSE than Hitler?

Perspective on 10,000

I previously blogged about the Philadelphia Phillies march to historical awfulness (10,000 losses), but this CBS Sportsline writer has a good take on this "feat": http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/columns/story/10250485. Certainly, in modern times, the Phillies have not been horrible. Rather, they are rather mediocre, never venturing too high above or too far below the .500 mark. The article writer compares them the to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (note to self: MUST do an updated Top Five and Bottom Five tomorrow!), but I think that a better comparison might be the Kansas City Royals or the Pittsburgh Pirates, other longstanding franchises who haven't won anything in years. In fact, both of those franchises are now downright miserable.

It could be worse, Philadelphia........................

One person in England gets it.............

...............though he may be the ONLY one, judging by the recent actions of British academics and union members: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/gerard_baker/article2033960.ece. I'm not going to turn this into another anti-British rant. I made my point on that earlier. I will only add that it's telling that I am nothing if not stunned whenever I read anything out of the U.K. that is not anti-Israel.

UPDATE (4:00 p.m.): Apparently, there are two people in great Britain who get it: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/columnists/columnists.html?in_article_id=466785&in_page_id=1772&in_author_id=322&in_check=N. The situation there is bad. And, it's definitely getting worse........

250 Fatah terrorists receive "Get out of Jail Free" Cards

Only the dimwitted Olmert government would do something like this. Hamas (the religious terrorists) takes total control of Gaza, with the West Bank still nominally being ruled by Fatah (the secular terrorists). The lovely and talented Ehud Olmert (ha ha) reacts by first announcing and then following through with the release of 250 Fatah terrorists, an action which even Fatah has received with at best lukewarm enthusiasm: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1183901655681&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull.

Meanwhile, Gilad Shalit, Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev continue to languish in terrorist captivitity, and Olmert does.....................nothing. Hasn't anyone else noticed that their names never even cross the lips of Israeli officials anymore? Am I the only one who think that this is just plain wrong?

Iran continues to fulminate

Maybe it's just me, but.................call me a radical, for some reason, I have a problem with the Mullahs in Iran having nuclear weapons: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/08/AR2007070801307.html?hpid=topnews. They are quite upfront about what they are doing, as well as what they intend to do (destroy Israel), and we in the West do nothing.

It is nothing short of astonishing (though maybe it should not be) that just a little over 60 years after the first Holocaust ended, another one is being planned and no one seems to care.

Battlefied England, Part Thirteen

Thanks to The American Israeli Patriot, I found out about the latest anti-Semitic boycott out of Jolly old England: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1183901654301&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull. Yet another powerful and influential English Union had decided to boycott Israeli products and services. So, I'm done with England. Screw them. I'm boycotting any and all English products and services that I can. I've had it with mealy-mouthed denials from the U.K. government which proclaim that it is "anti-boycott" as organization after organization there decides that Israel alone in the world is worthy of a boycott, and Israel alone in the world is comparable to Nazi Germany. These people are a disgrace.

Good news for Boeing

Which, in my mind, is good news for the United States: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070708/bs_nm/boeing787_dc. While Boeing's main rival, Airbus, is still trying to figure out why its superjumbo, the A380, can't seem to shake the bugs which have bedeviled it for over two years now, Boeing serenely worked on a smaller plane, the 787 (which it revealed, serendipitously, on 7/8/07), which is designed to replace the 767. Early reports are good, though test flights have yet to take place.

Go Boeing, I say.............

She's Ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ack!

It's as if Cindy Sheehan never left. Less than two months after she publicly declared that she was leaving her unofficial role as titular head of the antiwar movement in the United States, Cindy Sheehan has stated that unless Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi introduces Articles of Impeachment against President Bush within the next two weeks, she will run as an independent against Pelosi in the 2008 General Election: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19665569/from/RS.2/.

Well, bully for her. Since Nancy Pelosi has already said on more than one occasion that impeachment is not on her list of priorities, and since Republicans are pretty much an extinct species in that district, what we'll see is one far left figure (Pelosi) running against an even farther left figure (Sheehan). It should be great fun!

What's coming up

I'm working on a detailed post outlining "where I stand" on many issue of the day. Some of those views will surprise no one, some will surprise everyone. It will not be a link-filled post (I have been referred to by one reader as a "Linkosaurus Rex"), and likely will not contain any links at all. You can expect to see it at some point in the next couple of week.

Mainstreaming anti-Semitism

Thanks to LGF for this one. Politico is supposed to be a mainstream, liberal website. In other words, it is NOT supposed to be like the Daily Kos, Smirking Chimp, or other websites where the Angry Left spews its venom on a daily basis. So, what do we get out of it now? THIS thread, which starts with a premise that Israel is draining the U.S. of trillions of dollars every year, and then degenerates from there: http://dyn.politico.com/members/forums/thread.cfm?catid=2&subcatid=7&threadid=53311.

Go through all of the articles, as well as all of the comments. There are some clear thinkers in there, but the anti-Semitic nature of many of the posts cannot be disguised.

Continuing down the road

Which road? The road to the West's eventual complete capitulation to (radical) Islam, to the mindset of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, which has pointedly referred to so-called "Islamophobia" as "the greatest form of terrorism on the planet".

It's almost become a Pavlovian parody: Islamofascist radicals (a redundant term, I know) hit us with terrorist attacks, or have their plots broken up, and the West immediately reacts with mea culpas and evermore restrictive guidelines on how we can refer to the aspiring terrorists..........I'm sorry, "Disaffected/Alienated/Underprivileged Youths", or whatever the latest P.C. term is for them: http://www.townhall.com/columnists/DianaWest/2007/07/07/making_jihad_go_away.

Look at the way the world has changed since 9/11............for the worse. Hollywood makes movies about terrorists, and who are those terrorists? Inevitably, they are Caucasian males. President Bush goes into mosques and bleats about how Islam is a "Religion of Peace". Nancy Pelosi goes to Syria and puts on a Hijab. Everytime there is yet another terrorist attack perpetrated by (hate to be un-P.C., but I have to point this out) Muslims, or such an attack is thwarted, there is someone from CAIR berating us--without any argument from the host interviewing them, of course--for our so-called Islamophobia, and disingenuously implying that it's our own fault, anyway.

I would describe the whole situation as Orwellian, but I don't even think that George Orwell's incredibly fertile imagination could have imagined a situation like this one.
