Israel-Hezbollah War Recap

An Israeli inquiry into the leadup and and handling of the war by a panel of Israeli officials has issued what can only be described as a damning indictment of the handling of the war by the Olmert government. I still haven't seen the actual report, but an article commentinng on it can be found here: http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/04/30/olmert-failure.html. Another story on it can be found at: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/israel_lebanon_report_dc;_ylt=Al10rinRg2uaNEMxSZ7yFH4UvioA.

Given the lack of effectivenes, or the PERCEIVED lack of effectiveness of the Israeli troops against Hezbollah, this finding is not exactly a surprise. The question now becomes, "Where do we go from here?", and I don't know what the answer to that question might be. The report did not call for Olmert to resign, and he has already said that he will not do so.

UPDATE (8:21 a.m., May 1): Here is an English language summary of the report: http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Government/Communiques/2007/Winograd+Inquiry+Commission+submits+Interim+Report+30-Apr-2007.htm.
