All charges have just been dismissed against the three Duke students originally accused of rape. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18046103/. What has always amazed me about this case was how quickly the media jumped on these three kids. Now, they have been completely vindicated and exonerated.
One side issue to this story, which ties in with my Imus posts below: If I recall correctly, one of the first people to condemn these kids was none other than the Reverend Al Sharpton, on whose show Don Imus appeared, and who has been outspoken in his calls for Imus' firing. Well, Sharpton's link to a racially-charged non-story is nothing new (anyone else remember the name Tawana Brawley?). Any of you think that Sharpton will issue anything close to the apology that Don Imus issued, and which Sharpton deemed inadequate? Me, neither............
