Stories like this one just make me shake my head: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3463425,00.html. We are about to transfer over $400 million to the Palestinian Authority. That number is not a misprint. Undoubtedly, that money will be used to buy munitions. That's not just a guess on my part. The U.S. and E.U. have poured billions of dollars into the P.A., and yet how much of that money has ever reached the Palestinians themselves? Not much, if anything. It vanishes into the cesspool of corruption and graft that is the P.A., or it ends up buying more AK-47s, etc. You never see this money get used to start up farms, or build industrial buildings (unless you count bomb-making factories).
I guess that this move represents another victory for U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and the Arabist State Department.
