MLB Top Five and Bottom Five This Week

TOP FIVE
1) Boston Red Sox (#4, 16-8): Five wins in six games agains the Evil Empire (a/k/a the New York Yankees) has to feel awfully nice.
2) Cleveland Indians (no ranking, 14-8): The Tribe has an abundance of young hitters, but can the pitching hold up? I hope so, seeing as I have Jake Westbrook in my fantasy baseball league.
3) Atlanta Braves (#5, 16-9): It took all of one season for the Braves to return to their customary place as a National League playoff contender.
4) Milwaukee Brewers (no ranking, 16-9): The Brewers are just babysitting first place until the Cardinals get their act together.
5) Los Angeles/Anaheim/California Angels (no ranking, 15-11): I have no idea what this team is calling itself this week, but I will say that it is a playoff contender in the tough American League, especially with a healthy Bartolo Colon.
Dropped out: Los Angeles Dodgers (#1), New York Mets (#2), Detroit Tigers (#3)
BOTTOM FIVE
1) Washington Nationals (#1, 9-17): The Nats are hot right now, and have been winning at a blistering .400 clip over their last 10 games.
2) Kansas City Royals 9#2, 8-18): Yes, the Royals stink again, but how much of their record is skewed by playing in what is probably the toughest division in Baseball?
3) Colorado Rockies (#5, 10-16): Denver sports fans are just waiting for Football season to start again.
4) Houston Astros (no ranking, 10-14): The desultory play of the Astros is a mystery to me.
5) New York Yankees (no ranking, 9-14): I know, I know, it won't last, but boy, does it ever feel good to put the Yankees here!
Dropped out: San Francisco Giants (#3), Philadelphia Phillies (#4)
