A stunning development

This will come as a shock to everyone, I am sure, but the United Nations Human Rights Commission ("HRC") has--gasp!--condemned Israel over the situation in Gaza: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1201070783680&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull. Yes, I know, this is a startling development. After all, it's not like the HRC has ever done this before. Well, except for the 15 other times it has condemned Israel over the last two years, during which time onlyMyanmar was also cited. That must have been a mistake. Was there an Israeli in Myanmar at that time?

In any event, kudos again to Canada for voting against the condemntation resolution, and the typically gutless Europeans should once again be ashamed of themselves for only abstaining.

"Visiting Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen told Haaretz yesterday that the singling out of Israel for criticism in international forums was unfair.

"It is not acceptable to focus on Israel time after time, while other countries like Sudan do not receive any reference whatsoever at the United Nations Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly in New York," Verhagen said in an interview. "I would like to set the record straight on Israel."

Interviewed in his suite at Jerusalem's King David Hotel, the Dutch foreign minister said he has pursued "a more internationally balanced approach" to Israel and has conditioned Dutch support for resolutions criticizing Israel upon condemnations for Hamas' actions. "

Well? Where was he yesterday?
