Tim Russert, 1950-1958

Those who check out my blog from anywhere outside the United States will undoubtedly be bored by this post, if not completely uninterested. Tim Russert, moderator of Meet the Press and one of the journalistic giants of our age, passed away suddenly today of a heart attack at the young age of 58: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25145431/.

Obviously, my first thoughts are for his family and his close colleagues. He was one of those incredibly rare individuals who had the respect and admiration of politicians of either stripe. Just watching the tributes pour in about him is ample evidence of his tremendous character. It goes without saying that the Washington political scene and journalism in general will be the poorer for his departure. Rest in peace, Little Russ.................

I don't know much about the man, but I have watched "Meet the Press". On another blog they were talking about it and he seems like a decent man and a fair journalist. I was reading that he promised God he would attend Mass every week if his son was born healthy and he kept his promise. He also wrote a book about fathers.
