Saudi Arabia is apparently pushing hard behind the scenes for a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning Israel for "expanding its settlements" in the West Bank: http://www.nysun.com/foreign/saudis-pushing-un-demarche-against-israel/79974/. This move would place the U.S. in a very uncomfortable position of either having to veto the resolution or letting Israel get hung out to dry.
The timing of this move on the part of the Saudis is curious, but the way I see it, it's indicative of the growing rift between the United States and the world's prime exporter of oil and terrorists. I wonder if this will stop the Bush 43 Administration from groveling at the Saudis' collective feet? Probably not, unfortunately.
