This is fascinating. I talked to a few doctors today, and even they believed some of these:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20071221/sc_livescience/7medicalmythsevendoctorsbelieve. I can't even count how many times I was lectured by my mother as I grew up (or tried to, anyway) that I shouldn't read in the dark........................

There are few puzzlers about Patriarch Sabbah's pronunciations:
Wasn't it the Catholic Church that rallied and sent the crusaders in the first place? So, who is the "we" he speaks for with this statement?
Isn't the Vatican, his employer, exclusively Catholic, in a way that Israel is not exclusively Jewish??
And on whose behalf is he making these declarations now? The diminishing Christian population in the Palestinian territories, or Muslim fundamentalists like Hamas?
Some chutzpa.

Sorry. Wrong thread!
Science changes practially every other day. That's why I laugh at those who see the need to twist apart the words of the Torah to make them more "modern" and in tune with the current belief.
