Moral Cowardice in the West

Yeah, it's not exactly a news flash is it? The British government decides to knight Salman Rushdie, the Islamic World promptly reacts with calm and moderation...............umm, well, okay, maybe not. No, it instead reacts with the typical rioting and calls for executions. And the media here in the West reacts with a deafening silence.

Interestingly, while all of this was going on, the loathesome U.N. Commission on Human Rights quietly passed a proclamation banning the "insulting" of religions. How they fit it in between condemnations of Israel, I'll never know. In any event, as the author of this Op-Ed points out, this moving would seemingly give license to the Islamofascists who want Mr. Rushdie dead: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-rutten23jun23,1,6014697.column?coll=la-news-columns&ctrack=1&cset=true.

Wow, people are DUM...
Why do people continue to believe in ridiculous moral relativism between Islamic murderers and the West? On my blog, some idiot said that if newspapers would have printed unflattering cartoons about the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Jews would have rioted just like the Muslims. Of course, we would also call for the head of those who insult Judaism...

Why, you ask? Well, for a number of reasons. Some of it is attributable to good, old-fashioned naivete and stupidity, the kind of thinking done by those to whom Lenin fondly referred as "Useful Idiots". Some of it (insofar as Israel is concerned) is based on nothing more than hatred of Jews.

Western democracy is undoubtedly a good thing, but one of its offshoots has been a moral failure to the point where we are unable or unwilling to pass judgment on anyone or anything else. To a large degree, we have political correctness to thank for that.
