Paris Hilton

I hesitated to even write this post, but this has been gnawing at me since her latest "escapade" even made the news. What has been aggravating me is that this woman, who is famous only for being famous, even makes the news. Why does ANYONE care what she does, when she does it, or what happens to her?

Look at all the real news stories out there: Darfur, Iraq, Iran, Israel, the race for the Democratic and Republican Presidential nominations, passport woes at the Canadian Border, the trade deficit with China, etc., etc., ETC.! Yet, what has been the lead story no matter which network we are watching? Whether this tramp serves her full 45-day sentence for violating probation. Personally, I couldn't care less, but then again, I didn't care about Anna Nicole Smith, nor do I have the slightest interest in the comings or goings of any of these so-called celebrities. What they do and when they do it matters not in the least in the real world.

We have become a society that is fixated and fascinated by minutiae and frivolities. What really matters does not concern us at all; what is completely irrelevant dominates our headlines. It is a sad commentary on a society whose priorities are completely out of whack.

Couldn't agree with you more, but it is interesting to see you agree with Al Gore as to the state of dialogue in our country and the steady stream of garbage coming into our heads from the media outlets. Love the new format of the blog btw!

Thanks, much appreciated!

Insofar as Al Bore is concerned, well, even a broken clock is right twice a day!
