More on Iraq

Very interesting article in the Wall Street Journal on the Press' transformation of Iraq into Vietnam, with the reaction of the American public following a similar pattern: http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110010188. There is one fundamental difference between Iraq and Vietnam, of course, which is that the stakes are so much higher right now than they were forty years ago. There was never any danger of the North Vietnamese using all of Vietnam as a base to launch attacks on U.S. interests worldwide.

As I indicated in an earlier post, John McCain has it exactly right on this issue. Anything less than a victory will be seen as a defeat for the entire United States, not just the Bush Administration. The consequences of such a defeat would be felt for years.........
