Euope: Two steps forward, five steps back

I was stunned to find the following Op-Ed in this morning's Philadelphia Inquirer: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/opinion/20070826_One_Last_Thing___Europeans_have_supplanted_backbones_with_capitulation.html. Jonathan Last, it must be stated, is one of the few clear thinkers writing for the Inquirer. It is heartening, at least somewhat, to see a piece like this get published, though the point of the article, on how Europe seems to be rushing headlong into dhimmitude, is certainly far from a positive one.
