American in decline?

As it turns out, the constant drumbeat of "The Decline of American Power" is nothing new: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/08/declinism.html. The thing is, there is generally no way to tell if a decline is taking place until after it has already occurred. Given the standard of living in this country, the lines of people looking to move here (which aren't shrinking), etc., etc., I'm not of the opinion that this is a country in decline, much as some on the Left want that to be the case, or want the public to believe that that is the situation.............

Some people are never happy unless they have something to complain about.

Remember that the second that the US went into Iraq or Afghanistan, the Left already started labelling it as a 'quagmire'. The Left's treasonous nature demands that it constantly demoralize the US and empower its enemies.

I don't think that the US is facing a decline, or any particular risk of losing Great Power status, but there are definite challenges to American hegemony:
the Islamic world's jihad against all things western, for one, and the rise of Chinese power, for another.

But while these are serious challenges, from serious foes who are capable of doing real damage, the US is still far more powerful then either of them.
