Battlefield England, Part Nine

You know, maybe the decision of the UCU to boycott Israeli academics might turn out to be a good thing: http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,,2099043,00.html. It has brought the anti-Semitic, Arab-sympathizing left out from the under the rocks and exposed it to the light. Maybe, just maybe, it has finally stirred the somnambulant supporters of Israel into action. We can only hope. Even Donna Shalala, President of my alma mater, the University of Miami, has spoken out against the UCU's decision: http://www.miamiherald.com/456/story/132537.html.

As well, here is a link to the petition started by prominent academics here who are promising to counterboycott the boycotters: http://www.spme.net/cgi-bin/display_petitions.cgi?ID=9.
